Love Verizon FiOS, Hate the install and customer service

I am very happy with the FiOS TV, Internet, and HDTV but the installation was a nightmare. It took a total of five days to complete the physical install then another 2 weeks to straighten out the kinks. The customer service reps are dumber than a bag of hammers. After trying 3 times to get through in order to have the caller ID but back on my service and finally very slowly and not using big words to explain the problem the rep actually said "So you would like to add caller ID to your service?".
But back to the install, it wasn't really the fault of the techs they were doing their best trying to install a new system that they had not been fully trained on. There were times when I had five techs crawling in and around the house trying to solve all the problems. Hours were spent by the techs just trying to get the correct information on what was needed to finish the install. A good example was the battery backup system. The outside system will not operate unless the backup is up and running. So after replacing the unit three times, re-running the connections, trouble-shooting etc., the techs were told that the unit they were trying to use was too small. The reason: since I have three phone lines they needed to install the multi-dwelling/small business battery backup which consists of 8 individual battery packs instead of two. (BTW: the customer is responsible for the cost and replacement of the batteries). And so it went.
I sent a four page letter to the president of VerizonNJ carefully describing the whole nightmare experience. That was three weeks ago. D'ya think I got a response?
But the bottom line is that Verizon FiOS both the TV and Internet is head and shoulders above Comcast. The Internet runs at 20mbs/5mbs about 4 times faster that Comcast. The digital and Hi-Def TV signals are breath-taking to say the least. And since all TV's switch to digital in 2009, this is a much better option to regular cable service. Also by bundling my phone, TV and Internet services with Verizon, I have a net savings of over $1200 a year. Not bad!
