When Gevalia was first promoted in this country, I signed up for it and got my free coffee maker and coffee delivered to my front door. During the time I was a Gevalia customer I tried several different blends but was never satisfied. Eventually I canceled and went back to buying my coffee locally.
I like Peet's Coffee so while I was looking around on the internet (at an odd hour for shopping) I was very pleased to come across the Peet's Coffee and Tea Online Store.
The sight is very easy to use. From the home page you can look at general information about coffees and teas or you can go directly to the order section. The order section is divided so that you can shop for either coffee or tea.
This works well for me but I can't help but think that if you wanted to order both coffee and tea you would have to go from the order portion in one section to the order form in the other section. It seems like an unnecessary extra step and I think that you should be able to look at coffee or tea or both.
However, I went in to the coffee section and went looking for the blends I like. I clicked on the dark roast blends and then had a list of the specific dark roast blends.
When I clicked on specific blends I could read the "bio" of each blend and I could also click on Peet employee's comments or customer comments on those blends.
For ordering I clicked on how much or each blend I wanted as well as the information on how the beans should be ground (or left whole). From there I proceeded to check out. I chose the 2-3 day shipping option - but there is an overnight option as well.
Within two days my coffee was in my hands and even through the box I could smell the coffee (I love that smell!).
I find that the prices are comparable to coffee prices in shops around Boston. You may be lucky enough to live in a place where the actual store is cheaper but that doesn't happen in my neighborhood. The shipping added a bit more to the price but it did save me a trip to the store at a time when I was very busy.
Will I use this online store again? I won't use it all the time. Right now things are kind of hectic for me and certainly in the winter I prefer to get as many things as possible delivered but when things calm down and the weather is fine I will probably just got shopping for my coffee the old-fashioned way.
In the mean time I have coffee in my house and that is what I wanted when I went shopping at Peet's.
