Perdomo "Fresh-Rolled" - Great low priced cigar that will surprise

Nov 24 '04

The Bottom Line If you like medium to full bodied cigars and are interested in something a little bit different, give them a try.

As I've said before, I'm a relative newbie to the cigar world. I've been smoking about 2 a week for about a year or so. As instructed by my fellow cigar smokers, I've cycled through a variety of cigars to narrow down my preferences. I quickly identified my preference for larger ring cigars (50+) and acquired a taste for torpedos.

I haven't narrowed in on a preference for wrappers, but I seem to be starting to head towards medium cigars from Honduras. I am now in the process of sampling the big names in cigar to determine some preferences.

While checking out Perdomo, I stumbled on Perdomo's "Fresh-Rolled" cigars. I bought these cigars on a lark because of their uniqueness. They are freshly rolled and intended to be smoked "if you got'em". This alarms some cigar enthusiasts. It's much like buying a young port and popping the cork immediately.

What started as something of interest to smoke with my cigar buddies, turned out to be a favorite among the group. The flavor is extremely unique. It has a very dense, rich taste with a a light bite. it has a very slow burn which seems to add the the flavor as well.

If the smoke is too intense on the first try, they can be thrown into the humidor to age. As the months go by (about 3 months to notice a difference) the cigar becomes mellower with a sweeter taste. Unfortunately, some of the bite is also lost through aging. I've found that after 6 months this become an ordinary cigar - nothing to write home about. It's really a cigar to enjoy in the first couple of months.

This is a full-bodied cigar with a robust and heavy taste that really packs a whollop. Even experience cigar smokers may get a "buzz" off of this cigar.

This is not a daily cigar. It's probably not even a cigar that will make it into your rotation. It's best as a diversion from your regular routine. A cigar to sit with on the back porch on a nice crisp winter day.

Fresh-Rolled Perdomos are long-leaf Nicaraguan puros made entirely of Nicaraguan tobacco in Esteli, Nicaragua, covered in gorgeous Rosado wrappers with a lovely burgundy hue. Fresh-Rolled Perdomos are price between $1 ad $2 a stick.
