Our room was upstairs and had a balcony overlooking the gardens.
We loved it here, probably because the staff spoiled us rotten.Bikes were not included with our stay. That would have been fun.
I agree with everything that you say. It is pricey and the bathrooms are more ornamental than practical (and smallish).I was also quite surprised how close the hotel was to the road--but that is convenient for walking to the night market and the main street.
We also were given little gifts with the turn down service. I have them still. It was a lovely touch.
