My Artistic Inspiration Write-Off Announcement
Nov 27 '04 (Updated Jan 07 '05)
The Bottom Line Hope you'll join...
Hi all. To celebrate my fifth anniversary at this site next month, I thought I would celebrate with a write-off that has interested me for a long time. Member goldmoon and I, us Nebraska girls, are hosting it all next month because there are many ways to enter and you may enjoy writing several posts. The point of the Artistic Inspiration write-off is threefold: to help us know you better through selected books, movies, music or perhaps another art form; to get you thinking about how the media or art forms have inspired you throughout your life; to promote great books, movies, music or other art forms that may inspire others.
A friend told me this morning that an archaelogist friend was inspired by watching Raiders of the Lost Ark. I cannot remember offhand a movie inspiring me to be a writer, but reading Nancy Drew and The Great Gatsby did. Some of you were probably inspired by a musician or album to be either a music lover or musician. You may have been inspired by many movies/directors, books/authors or albums/artists and you could write several entries. The options are generous:
1. Tell us about the many art forms that have inspired, defined or influenced you, good or bad. This includes fiction/nonfiction, movie/doumentary and album/concert.
2. Talk about author/authors, director/directors or artist/artists.
3. Review a special book, movie, album or concert.
4. A combination of two or three options.
The categories used may be:
For books, the advice category of learning history through books, which I have used to explain me through Dr. Freudines history (http://www.epinions.com/content_3589709956), a WC piece or the books category.
For movies, the advice category of your top ten favorite movies, a WC piece or the movies category.
For music, perhaps the rock/pop mix category, a WC piece or the albums category.
Please don't think this write-off is only for members who make a living being artists! Media affects all our lives. Please leave links to your entries or questions in this comment section or email Angie at amcquay2000@yahoo.com or myself at jankp@snail-mail.net. Thanks, we are very excited to read your entries next month!
