The Bottom Line ~
The rain fell softly onto the pitch black pavement. Although the car radio blared, each drop pierced her ears, and sent waves of excitement throughout her body. She slung off her shoes and tippee toed like a ballerina in toe shoes. The young gentleman urged her to come back to the car but she didn't hear him, she was living in the moment, if for just a second, a minute, an hour, she wanted to feel this moment and never forget it. He ran to her side as she danced across the dark lot, he whispered into her ear "come with me." The young girl in the drenched white blouse and long flowing skirt giggled as she pulled away from his clutches and said simply "No." She was looking to the heavens where the rain drops would touch her face so softly as if they were caressing her every feature. The young boy looked on in amazement at her spinning around and around in the rain. "what is she doing" he thought to himself, and as if she knew what he was thinking she ran to him grabbed his hand and twirled him around, "we are having fun are we not?" The boy looked amused and confused all at once. He grinned as if he was trying to hold the moment in his mind for as long as he possibly could. The rain drops fell harder and the girl fell clumsily to the ground. Her long, brown, wet, hair fell around her face as she looked up to he boy, rain drops spilling off her nose, he kissed them off ever so softly as he helped her to her feet. "Are you having fun yet" she asked the boy. He stood there as if he had no idea, playing in the rain seemed a juvenile thing to do. His thoughts seemed strange and jumbled, it was a feeling he never felt before and one she had felt all too often yet lost more than many times. Then the thunder clapped as if to say bravo to the girls whimsical ballet in the dark, rainy, night and she too thanked the thunder by taking a bow. The boy asked her again "Please get in the car you'll catch a death of cold if you continue," and he was cut short by her running to his side. He didn't have a moment to catch his breath as her wet body clung to his, and the cold ran like lightening though them both. She eyed him slyly and twirled herself out of his reach but held on to his hand for just long enough to say, "You have been caught in the rain." And as the lightening lit up the sky and the rolling of the thunder rang on and on, the young boy looked on into the black rain across miles of pavement and there was no young girl, there was no dancing to the drops of rain, only the blaring stereo and flashes of light. He wrapped himself up in his coat and lowered his head, "and this was my dream" he said aloud, when he noticed the faintest scent on his long coat. It was the scent of the young girl that played in the rain. And he wished for the memory to never go away, for his love was the girl that danced to drops of rain.
