Thanks Dave I would just love to write a book on Music some day. After every review I research, draft and finally post I get more and more interested into finding out how to go about the process of putting a book together. Some day I hope to get the balls to take a chance.

Certainly, in the sixties and seventies, I had more of my loved ones on this side--something that certainly hits home with me during a year like this when I've had to let go of so many people, including (among others) my dad, my "adopted" aunt, and one of my old Sunday School teachers.

Of course, in the sixties and seventies, many of the people I know and love hadn't even been born yet!

So it goes both ways.

And we had Vietnam back then--which made less sense than the war we're in now (and the draft was in effect for that one)!

But this was certainly a time for great music (esp. in the sixties). These days, even too much of the country music seems to have lost whatever it was that it had back then.

Yet, I also see people in both country and pop who are trying to bring back the magic, and I hope they can do it!

I'm In You has special memories for me, because it was one of the songs I played a lot of when I was daydreaming about that special guy in my life back in 1977!

Looking forward to Connie Francis review!

Not only was she born in December, but she was also born on December 12--just like Dionne Warwick, Frank Sinatra, and a certain someone else!

Wonder who!?!

Cheers!
AJ :o)

I very glad you enjoyed it Karen. I sometimes wish I was back living in the 60's and 70's because for me those were the years with the best Music and Memories.

I'm glad you were able to fix the review. I had stopped by earlier but had too hard a time reading it.

I am SO glad to read that I am not the only one that could not understand Mobiprofs review. Twas too technical for me.

Excellent review. I liked Frampton. Thought "Do you feel" was really cool. I have one of their demo albums that wasn't released except to music stores as demos. Do You Feel is on it.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Ron:) - Thanks for explaining that GINZO (Reply to this comment)
by JAGUARDOG
Since I now know what you were saying I could say we are both ½ correct I guess? My research does not always tell me if an artist is appearing live or on tape. I can say for sure that Paul Anka, The Bee Gees, The Carpenters, Chuck Berry, Helen Reddy and even Bill Haley & The Comets (believe it or not) were all still making TV appearances and touring as well.

The Beatles split in 1970 - so they were via tape
Jim Croce died in September 1973 - so he was via tape
Elvis died in August 1977 - so he was via tape
Herman's Hermits split in 1971, reunited for 1 concert in 1973 and split again - so they were via tape

Karen Carpenter didn't die until February 1983 so I will assume The Carpenters were live

I hope this helps a little and thanks for pointing that out.

Ya,I meant 76.
I don't understand how Frampton could have released that double live in 76 and THEN appeared with those particular artists later in 76 (not 78)
I didn't think those artists were around in 76 for the midnite special unless those were performances from the past.
Appeared with
Bill Haley and the Comets in 76???????
"Appeared with" or "was shown" on a show featuring other artists from other past performances???

See where I'm a little confused??? : >

Doing these reviews of artists from our past always seems to bring back great memories to me as well. I never got a chance to see Frampton in Concert or even on TV and always wondered how he got his guitar (voice box) to talk (sound like that).

I remember that song Do You Feel Like We Do. In high school, we tried to make out bass sound like Frampton's voice box. Man, that brought back great memories.

I'm a little confused GINZO. I never mention in that section anything about 1978. That section is all about 1976 only. Here it is again maybe you can help me understand what you are trying to say?

They next re-release a new live version of "Show Me The Way" on 21 February 1976 and it peaks at #10 in the UK and at #6 in the US on the singles charts. On 19 March Peter appears for the 3rd time on "The Midnight Special" this time with "Rufus featuring Chaka Khan", "Helen Reddy", "Melissa Manchester", "Jimmy Walker" and "Johnny Rivers". On 10 April they release "Frampton Comes Alive!" a 2-album set recorded live on the Winterland Ballroom stage in San Francisco, CA. Sales of the album explode and it quickly peaks at #1 on the album chart where it stays for 5 weeks falls and then peaks at #1 for another 5 weeks on the US chart on stay on the US chart for almost 2 full years. It would peak at #6 in the UK and over time it would sell over 16 million copies worldwide and become one of the most successful Live albums ever recorded.

They next appear again on "The Midnight Special" on 21 May with "The Beatles", "The Bee Gees", "The Carpenters", "Bill Haley & The Comets", "Herman's Hermits", "Paul Anka", "Chuck Berry", "Jim Croce", "Elvis Presley" and "Helen Reddy". On 26 June they release the second record from their album a new live version of "Baby, I Love Your Way" with "It's A Plain Shame" also recorded live on the flip side and it later peaks at #12 on the US singles chart. Peter's 5th appearance on "The Midnight Special" is next on 6 August along with "James Brown", "Alice Cooper", "Rhythm Heritage", "Seals & Crofts" and "J. D. Souther". In August "Baby, I Love Your Way" with "I'll Give You Money" on the flip side also recorded live is released in the UK and only peaks at #43 there. Peter spends a day at the White House in Washington, DC on 8 September at the invitation of the then "President Gerald Ford". On 18 September the 3rd record from their last album "Do You Feel Like We Do" is released and it peaks at #39 in the UK and at #10 in the US on the singles chart. Also today they perform "Baby, I Love Your Way" on "Don Kirshner's Second Annual Rock Music Awards" show on CBS TV from the Hollywood Palladium in Hollywood, CA.

Great job on the review.
I can say I saw Frampton with "The Band" at the Boston Charles river hatch shell on September back in the early 90's.
I don't quite follow you when you say Frampton comes alive is released in 76 and then....

"They next appear again on "The Midnight Special" on 21 May with "The Beatles", "The Bee Gees", "The Carpenters", "Bill Haley & The Comets", "Herman's Hermits", "Paul Anka", "Chuck Berry", "Jim Croce", "Elvis Presley" and "Helen Reddy". "

I'm not following, how could these people be on the midnite special in 78???Were they flash-backs??

what memories they hold. I used to own a lot of those as well as all the records I owned. I still have about 8 I have saved over the many years. I remember how I used to get so upset and disgusted when one tore up inside my 8-Track player and I'd have to throw the tape in the trash.

I have such fond memories of "Framptom Comes Alive". This was one of the very first 8-track tapes I bought with my own hard-earned money, way back when I was a young hoodlum. One day, my friend Wally was riding shotgun with me in my 1970 Pontiac when he rummages around in the glove compartment, comes out with "Framptom Comes Alive", looks at it, and says, "I hate Frampton!" And out the window the tape went.

I was ticked off at the time, but in retrospect, I should buy Wally a beer...

Cheers!

do you write your reviews in Word? if so, try doing a copy-paste to notepad in windows, and then copy-paste from notepad to Epinions. This seems to work for some people.

Nice work I'm sure. :)

John I have read Mobi's review, even though I didn't understand 1/2 of what he said. It is a pain in the TUSH and has been a problem for weeks. I'd really like to know what is taking them so long to resolve this stupid issue?

Epinions' Af disease strikes again. (Reply to this comment)
by omophagia
I understand why you use so many quotes in your reviews, but, with the current bug going around the site, this one was nearly impossible to read-- which is a shame, because your reviews are always so insightful and provide such great historical perspective.

Mobiprof has written a primer on how to overwrite the Af disease:
http://www.epinions.com/content_4155744388

It's a chore, but it looks like the best option until TPTB decide to fix this.

Best,

Normally I love your reviews and I hope you know that. Unfortunately, though, all the – made this very difficult for me to read. I don't know if – means something that I'm just not getting, but it did make the review very hard on the eyes.
