Terrible service.
I ordered a couple of books as Christmas gifts last year from Powells.com. After my books did not arrive for several weeks I contacted them and their response was, "We show your books were delivered on" such and such a date. "We hope this is helpful."
Well, thanks for looking into it, Powells, but no, it isn't really helpful. If you show they were delivered and I don't have them, then there must be some problem. What should we do next?
"We show your books were delivered on" such and such a date. "We hope this is helpful."
Okay, here is a suggestion. Reship them, refund my money, or suggest something useful.
"We can't help you. We show they were delivered."
Enough of that. I disputed the charge with my credit card and they were quite helpful by investigating, removing the money from Powell's account, and resolving in my favor.
I'm just amazed there are still web retailers who don't stand behind their sales. If you do business through the mail, don't you accept the fact that things sometimes get lost and cover it to keep your customers? I mean, the Post Office loosing something is not exactly unheard of. That has happened to me with Amazon before and I was amazed at how helpful they were by immediately reshipping. From now on, I'm going to watch who I do business with online.
