A little balloon book

Written: Jan 31 '08 (Updated Jul 02 '08)
Pros:Reusable stickers, glossy pages, thought provoking
Cons:None
The Bottom Line: We love this book for the great thought provoking story and the great illustrations throughout

We have a special place in our home for all of the children's "adoption" books so my daughter and I can sit down and read our special books together. This Where Do Balloons Go book is included in that space as I ordered it by mistake when I was ordering a few adoption books. Jamie Lee Curtis wrote a book about adoption for kids and I clicked on the wrong book. I was very confused after reading this book as there are no mentions of adoption in it!!

Where Do Balloons Go is "an uplifting mystery" about, like the title says, where balloons go! Have you ever wondered what happens to balloons when you let go of them? This book explores that question with imagination! "Do they catch cold and need somewhere warm to stay?" Or maybe they go up in space or fly around with airplanes. Could it be they go to Tibet or Norway or some such faraway place? This book explores so many different options of not only where balloons go but also what they might be doing there!! A very engaging and thought provoking book for kids. It will provide much to talk about after the book is finished. There are about 20 reusable stickers on the last page to place on the pages of the book.

With rhyming sentences, the book flows along nicely. I love to read rhyming books to my child! This book has fabulous colorful cartoon illustrations, many look like waterpaints. They are realistic but on many the facial expressions are hard to read. This is a very nice book and long enough to sit with a child and read, not too short as many children's books that are over with in a minute! Tons of pictures of the balloons off doing what they do where they are, I think that we spent more time looking at the pictures than reading the book! A very interesting, thought provoking book.
