WHAT THE SITE IS
Cooking.com is a wonderfully put together cooking site. All cooks, from novice to expert can locate something they need (or want) here!
FINDING WHAT YOU NEED
There are three main ways to locate an item by using the • search feature choosing one of the • Departments listed, or by clicking on one of the • Theme Shop buttons.
To use the • Search feature you just type in a keyword (items name) or a catalog number. By typing in steamer and got twelve choices, 7 which were considered small appliances and 4 as cook’s tools. Here you have the option of sorting your choices by cost, brand or product type. By choosing the low to high price option, the items were resorted (in a heartbeat) to place the 5 inch bamboo steamer ($9.95) on the top all the way to the $99.95 11 inch stainless steel professional universal steamer at the end. There are 10 products shown on each page.
One thing I really like is that you can also Search for recipes here. I typed in • Chicken Salad and was taken to a page with 50 recipes! These were divided into three subcategories • Main Courses (5 choices) • Salads (43 choices) and 2 • Sandwich choices. Most of these came with pictures and all of them list the nutrition facts broke down per serving.
There are 14 departments to choose from. These are under the BROWSE title and appear on the left side of the pages • Bakeware • Barware • Cookbooks • Cook’s Tools • Cookware • Cutlery • Gift Baskets & Sets • Gift Ideas • Housewares • Outdoor Living • Small Appliances • Specialty Foods • Tableware & Glassware • Clearance. Once you go to one of the areas you will see two featured items as well as the rest of the selections.
I clicked on • Gift Baskets and Gifts and there were two features choices, a • great salad toss on sale for $39.96 from $79.95 and a • omelet making set down to $44.95 from $63.95. The • omelet set contains an 8-inch Berndes non-stick omelet pan (with a lifetime warranty), a curved-edge nylon turner, a one-ounce crock of Provence herbs and a cookbook. By buying it in the kit, you save close to $10.00 over buying them separately.
The other choices are • Gifts Under $50 • Gifts Under $75 • Ultimate Gifts • Birthday Gifts • Wedding & Anniversary Gifts • Just Because • Corporate Gifts • International Gifts • Cooking Sets • Hostess Gifts • Gourmet Food Gifts • Unique Gifts.
Curious, I clicked on the • Just Because link. I was taken to a page where there were nine choices. This is where I first found something to get, a pretzel making kit for $19.95. The kit comes with two 2-lb canisters of pretzel mix ~~ one regular and one cinnamon sugar, 5 oz. of yeast, two pretzel molds ~~ one small and one large, a mister bottle, pretzel salt and a recipe/instruction booklet. I am planning to give this to Grandma as part of her Christmas gift as I am sure she will have great fun teaching her grandchildren how to make these pretzels when they are over. I always try to find at least one gift that will give both she and my children wonderful memories.
The Theme shop has 11 different choices • Asian Cooking • Baking, Coffee & Tea • Entertaining • Grilling • Ice Cream • Italian • International • Kids • Light & healthy.
Under the Coffee & Tea section there are 9 coffee selections, 3 for tea and the two featured items. The coffee choices are • Gourmet Coffees and Roasts • Coffee Grinders • Coffee Markers • Espresso Makers • Coffee and Espresso Accessories • Milk Frothers and Pitchers • French Presses • Thermal Carafes and Urns • For the Table.
You can see you should be able to find something from this large selection! My husband is the coffee drinker in our house and he has needed a new grinder for a long time so, since I was already ordering I went into the • coffee grinders. Here I could choose from grinders that ranged in price from $19.95 to $124.95. Knowing the life expediency of small appliances at our house, I went with the Krups $19.95 grinder in black. I am happy to say that he has used it daily and it is working great.
Since I am the tea drinker, that area was easier for me. The three choices here are • Gourmet Teas • Stovetop and Electric Teakettles • Teapots and Accessories. I went into the • Gourmet Teas and picked a tin of Vanilla Almond blended black tea. The 50 tea bags cost $7.95, which is less than I pay at a little shop in Seattle, which is the only place I have found this combination. I REALLY liked this tea and wish they sold it in larger volumes, like 200 bags, and of course with a volume discount. :o)
ALSO AT THE SITE
Across the top, there are few other services • Special Values • Gift Ideas • Wedding Registry • Recipes & More. Under the • Special Values I was able to find a great set of four cappuccino cups for $7.99. These are really fun little cups without handles and a removable colored band around the cup that keeps your hand from getting hot. They come with a red or blue band and are also available in espresso cups at the same price.
When you go to Under the • Special Values you will find • Gourmet Cheese where you can get both the actual chesses as well as accessories to use while serving it. This is also where you can find the gift if the week and make a wish list.
• Wedding Registry is where you go to register and/or look up someone who has previously registered.
SHIPPING
There are three Shipping choices. • Economy is the least expensive and is said to arrive in 4-9 days which is right where my order fell. The prices start at $4.75 ($0-$15 order) to $19.50 ($200-$250) with orders over $250 shipped for free.
The • Expedited Shipping is $10.00 higher than the • Economy and should arrive in 2-3 days. All orders over $250 are charges a $10 plus 10% of the shipment amount fee.
The third and most expensive Shipping options is • Next Day delivery which (stay with me here) arrives the day after you order. This option start at $29.75 ($0-$15) to $44.50 ($200.01-$250.00) with a fee of $25 plus 10% of the shipment amount for orders over $250.00
You are able to track your order on the site, which is ALWAYS a nice option.
NOTE: These are the prices for the US contiguous 48 states where the rates to send to Alaska, Hawaii and all US Territories is $10.00 higher than the above. I did NOT see any other rates.

I have shopped at Cooking.com many times and have never had a single problem! The have a great selection, decent prices and on time delivery. I would recommend Cooking.com to anyone who loves to cook or is shopping for someone who loves to cook!
