I am so glad to have purchased the Squaretrade warranty when I bought my hubby's laptop.
When I first purchased the item on Ebay, the seller recommended SquareTrade for an extended warranty. Not knowing how long the laptop would work, I figured why not try it - The cost of the warranty was reasonable, given the replacement cost of the laptop if it didn't last. We had the laptop for about a year when it just DIED! Fortunately, I remembered that I had the Squaretrade warranty.
I called Squaretrade (not actually expecting much service, if any) and was provided with super-fast response - a UPS shipping label to send in the item with a "promise" that they would inspect and let me know... They didn't even give me the usual garbage about how I needed to send it in the original packaging (who honestly keeps all their boxes for that long???)
I received several updates from Squaretrade during the process - when UPS notified them that the package was en route; when the package arrived at their company; when it arrived in the inspection department; and then the status of the inspection.
I honestly expected to hear that my laptop had some mysterious issue which wasn't covered by the warranty, but instead told that I would get a refund of the purchase price, minus the cost of shipping - AHA! I thought - this is where they will get me.... but it turned out that the shipping cost was nominal! In fact, I paid more for the BOX!
Within days the total amount was transferred back to me via Paypal. The entire process took about 7 days (from call to cash!) Now how is that for SERVICE???
I was shocked all around by the cost of the warranty, speed of the process for return and then the fact that Squaretrade ACTUALLY DID WHAT THEY SAID THEY WOULD! wow! These days, that is a very welcomed surprise! So - I have used them for three items, and will definitely use Squaretrade for any other extended warranty coverage. I have already replaced the item and of course told the merchant no thanks on their company's extended warranty - I am sticking with Squaretrade!
