Sony is known for their stylish ultracompact Cyber-shot cameras which snap some really good shots. This is not the cheapest compact camera on the market, it lists for about $350.
The Good (and there are a lot of good features!)
However, what makes this camera distinctive is its 4GB of stored memory in the camera, which is more than generous. Most point and shoots have about 32 MB of storage. Youll save money by not having to purchase memory cards.
In addition, it has some very simple touch-screen controls. Simple, web based terms include "home," "menu," and back buttons prominently placed in the corners of the screen.
Image quality in the viewfinder is very good. Coming in five different flavors or colors allows you to match the camera to your personality!
The screen on the back is a reasonably generous 2.7 inches. In addition, you can do some minor edits to the photos on the camera which is cool. It is fairly easily figured out so you dont have to keep referring to the manual. However, if you have gorilla hands, you may have some trouble working these controls. But as we have all adapted to tiny cell phones, you can eventually get the touch.
The camera has many automatic/manual modes so you can have significant control over the picture youre taking. Exposures taken in both daylight and with flash are well exposed and have good color balance.
There are ten scene modes: landscape, snow, beach, fireworks, twilight, high-speed shutter, high sensitivity, soft snap, twilight portrait mode, and Smile Shutter
Most notable feature: Smile Shutter
What this means is that the camera helps you to capture smiles by snapping only when a smile is detected in the frame. This feature works pretty good. Just dont try to take a picture of Mr. Grumpy! It works on the main person in the photo so you dont have to worry if you have a group shot.
Its compact size is 2.2 by 3.5 by 0.9 inches and lightweight (4.5 ounces), so it can fit right into your pocket without any problem.
Although you can set the ISO levels all the way up to 3200, dont do that as youll end up with pictures with a LOT of image noise. In fact, the noise starts after an ISO of 400. If you can, use flash so you can obtain better results.
Shutter lag is quick so you can reshoot pictures without waiting too long. Distortion in images is minimal, most notable in wide angle shots. The zoom feature works nicely.
Cons
You cant put the pictures on a storage device until the camera memory is full. The T2 does take Memory Stick Duos or Pro Duo cards.
Proprietary cord is required to download images to a PC. (it's not that big, but just another thing to lug around if you plan on downloading)
No optical viewfinder, you use the large screen. Typically, you will have difficulty seeing the subject in bright sunlight.
