Anyways, cool write-up, and nice Ja bashing, although you yourself said that if an artist does an R&B song to sell, its "good" since hes making money. I didn't quite get the contradiction, since thats why he did it.

I think making money is fine. Trying to become main stream is fine too. But gosh, did he have to make it his number one goal to be MTV's best friend? And people "sh**ted" on him for it too.

Ha! Ok, at least I'm forgiven. If this was American Idol, that one weird dude would've said My Boo was ear delicious.

Great write-up. Great selections. Especially loved the Quote of the Year. Now I'll see about forgiving you for selecting My Boo as being the Song of the Year.

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!

God, although I didn't agree with the top 5 album picks (theres a lot more music u should hear that you'd love, i liked most of ya picks too), the bad ones i agree, specially the Beasties. Good God, I cannot stand them. Yeah, they had a few hits and were cool in the 80s, but it doesn't work anymore.

Anyways, cool write-up, and nice Ja bashing, although you yourself said that if an artist does an R&B song to sell, its "good" since hes making money. I didn't quite get the contradiction, since thats why he did it.

Anyways, Peace

A) Dragging the whole Chilli and JT incidents into the ground. When you make good music, you don't have to invent publicity to sell it, yanno? Plus, I heard a rumor that JT snuffed him at a celebrity basketball game. That would've been funny.

I didn't really see it that way. I thought he definitely used the Chili stuff to create a buzz. I thought MTV.com blew that Chili thing through the roof. Ya, he could've been less secretive about it, but hell, he's selling records. And about JT, I thought the incident with Cameron Diaz and the paparazzi was much worse than anything Usher did this year.

B)The whole "My Boo" album re-release thing. 6 million copies of "Confessions" had already bee sold. Not like Usher needed more money. so to strip the song onto the album and force a large quantity of people who bought the album the first time to buy it a second time just leaves a bad taste in my mouth...

See, now it's not like he invented that idea. Tons of people have done it. J. Lo and LL did it with that one song a couple years ago. And with digital music, no one really had to buy the album again. All I did was pay 4 bucks to get the new songs. But point sort of well taken.

and judging from recent public appearances, dude's got an ego as big as Kanye's, and it's not totally justified, either (ha! I made a pun!)--

I see it as being well deserved, at least from the perspective of "gloat while you can because it can be gone tomorrow". And dude, this album smashed Justified. Also, our boy MJ has a huge ego too and even though this album wasn't Thriller, nothing ever will be Thriller.

Ha! Usher would probably get my artist of the year too, if not for...

Anyway, off my soapbox...smashing list.
