Flipside of "Society For The etc." single (Reply to this comment)
by daisyglaze
Thanks for your nice research and write-up of Bobby Freeman. You may want to update it with the following info: the flipside of "Society For the Prevention of Cruelty to People in Love", is a track titled "Do You Wanna Dance, 1970".
I double-checked all your other info for the Double Shot Records entries, and it's correct. (I work at the company which bought the Double Shot label.)
Lastly, a previously-unreleased "from the vaults" outtake titled "Do It" was issued in 2004 on the Ace Records U.K. label in their compilation titled 'A Double Shot of Soul'. The CD liner notes also offer some good insight into this performer...a must for Bobby Freeman fanatics! :)

Re: Re: Free & Freeman - Real body movers? (Reply to this comment)

Hey!!!
You make my body move a lot!!!
Seriously, when I'm reading your reviews, I often start hearing the songs in my head and keeping time to the music.
And, when I get towards the ending of your reviews and find the lyrics, I even feel more like dancing!
Write On!

P.S. You're welcome for the rose. Can sent it to me, and I thought it was really beautiful, too!

Free & Freeman (Reply to this comment)
by AinsleyJo
I can't remember liking Bobby Freeman that well when I heard him on Where The Action Is. I think that, whatever he did that day, my cousins and I all gave him a thumbs-down--and we wouldn't have for a minute believed that he had been the one to write Do You Want To Dance?.
But, again, I might have him mixed up with someone else.
I know that I think his Shimmy, Shimmy song rocks.
Like you, what I remember about Free is All Right Now and I love it, too!
Ever notice that The Steve Miller Band's Rockin' Me picks up the chording--and beat--of All Right Now in places.
I never owned a copy of any of these three songs (Shimmy, All Right, Rockin'), but, when I hear them on the radio, they're real body-movers!!!
Cheers!

Re: happy 2005! - You to Jan Happy New Year (Reply to this comment)
by JAGUARDOG
I'm confused maybe I get them confused but if I am correct I hardly never use Italics but I do use a ton of quotation (") marks to help names stand out better. If I have any italics I am not aware of it and maybe its' the Epinions site that is causing that to happen?

Hey Ron, many of the artists you review I haven't heard of, but Freeman's song Do You Wanna Dance is a great tune. It's wonderful that you are giving them more recognition. Curious why you use so many italics, though. And thanks for the MH!

the amazing thing about Free was just how young the band were when they released most of their greatest work.
Nice job Ron, but I think maybe Bobby Freeman was "bad company" for this group lol

How in the Wide Wide World of Sports did you get your hands on an unreleased version, bootleg or did Eric give it to you? Sounds really cool I've love to be able to hear their version someday. You have a Happy Holiday as well good buddy.

Ron,
Nice job, as usual, my friend. Happy Holidays!
I've got an unreleased live recording of The Raspberries doing "All Right Now" which is cool --- Free's version remains definitive and a personal favorite of mine.
Don :)
