Somebody told me I took too long to read this (Reply to this comment)
by beckytcy
now this one was weird, everytime I went into the kitchen, I'd be overcome with an urge to belt out "BEDSHAAAAAAAAAAPED". Why the kitchen, I have no idea.
That's hilarious. I don't even know what "bedshaped" means. Well, I guess it means shaped like a bed, but couldn't they just say "rectangular?" Going into the kitchen of one of my college residences used to make me want to sing "Be My Lover" by La Bouche. I have no idea why, but it would drive my roommate crazy.

Re: Good job... (Reply to this comment)

...though both Tori Amos and Daniel Rice's discs came out in 2003.
Not in the land of the cold they didn't.. even Maroon 5 didn't come out till 2004 here, and that album's older than sin.
And I have to disagree with you on the Daniel Rice thing; he sounds nothing like the David Gray that I know. I mean, yeah, he's a European who sings songs set to the guitar, but apart from that, the similarities end there.
Oh I think Damien Rice sounds a lot like David Gray from say, 10 years ago. But as they say, music is in the ear of the beerholder.. or something.
But like the rest of your choices, though Alanis Morissette's vastly underwhelming last record??? OK, you lost me on that one too. :)
I think I was intrigued by Alanis getting rid of some of her trademark angst and singing la-la-la happy songs instead. It was like she had an epiphany. Hope it wasn't painfull for her.
Thanks for the comment Ken.

Jackiii!!!
You know, I envy you. I don't get to see such things when I put my TV on. Nicky can frolic in anything and look good, methinks.
Even dead president masks?? Ok, what about alive president masks? Even George Bush?? LOL Ok that's a scary image,
I can't believe you don't like Franz Ferdinand anymore! I may die! ... at least Take Me Out's still good for you, though..
You know, my love for FF comes and goes, but I do still loves me some Take Me Out, and also "... Matinee", if I'm in the mood.
And Robbie Williams? I will always, always remember him for that song "Millennium" he did awhile back. I've been wanting to hear it again but I don't want to buy his CD.. the shame..
Oh I love Robbie, he appeals to my sarcastic nature, plus, easy on the eye, which helps his case.
Thanks muchly for the mention, it really means a lot ^_^ if I was invited to this write off, you'd be on my list too!
You're very welcome.. and awww, thank you!
Cheers!

But you are KALOA!!!
Very true.
I'll have to find a picture!!!
Oh God, not physically.. noooo... musically pretty.
I love all of her albums, it's hard for me to choose a favourite although the song "Uninvited" is way up there!!!
meh, call me old fashioned, but I still loves me some "Jagged little Pill"
So the Finns aren't so bad after all, eh!!!
Not when they're making music that's pretty good, and I have a strange yen for elfin lead singers.. with feathers.
And cute and cuddly, like her daddy!!!

MQS,
to see Alanis get some love. Because nothing inspires me to sing (really) loud and chair dance quite like Alanis.
Oh I know the feeling. Evere since Jagged Little Pill, Alanis has been great chair dancing (and the occasional wail) music for me. She's just so inspiring that way. Bless her.
Which means you need to tell me which ones I would like, so I can make the best of all uses of my new and beloved toy
Yay for ipods! Oh, you would love Keane, and also Grant Lee Phillips. They're both just the right side of pretty and melodic without being sugary. Bliss. You might also like Maroon 5, who are kind of funky, plus, the lead singer is hot.
(upon which the first two songs were "I Grieve" and "The Barry Williams Show").
Yay for my man Peter!
I also notice your new (and smokin' hott) profile pic
*blush*
in which you are wearing a Lance bracelet. Go Richard! I've had mine on since July and plan to wear it until it rots from my wrist.
Yeah, it's a subject close to my heart. Everyone should wear one.
Such a lovely image, that.
LOL
Okay, I think I'm done. For now.
Ok. And sorry it took me so long to respond. I need to read your Johnny Depp review.. well, a film with him in it at least. Which I haven't seen... slap me.

Herr von Johansenfan (awwww)
cheeeeeeers for the mention anyway :)
Ack, you know you rock!
your albums list was fun... i only have a few quibbles... like, how the frick was keane number one LOL?
LOL.. now don't start doubting me.. it took me forever agonising over what to have as number one. Yeah, I know they aren't that original, but heck, pretty pretty music! For which I'm a sucker. Just look at my joint number 1!
nice to see the big fluffy teddy bear making an appearance in the top ten as well!
Of course the nice, big fluffy teddy bear made the list.. it just wouldn't have felt complete without it. plus, as I said, TW always makes me smile. He's such a pleasant chappie.
ugh... the killers? i mean, i absolutely hate "somebody told me" (i don't have a cat to dance to it with)
See, that makes all the difference, some feline dancing along to that song really makes one's appreciation grow. Plus, I couldn't not include it since I'd been singing the damn thing for weeks... I'm over it now, thankfully.
since i also thought that muse's "sing for absolution" was the worst song from their album.
I like SFA.. it's the lovely plinking at the beginning, that always reminds me of early 80's Eastern Europe, and the lips turning blue, which always reminds me of winter in Sweden. Maybe it's nostalgia or something, LOL
you're forgiven for including the rasmus on there though, a band i had completely forgotten about (though when i do think of them i think of little goth-like elves running around in a dark forest LMAO).
LMAO.. that's a perfect description.. and their last album rocks, in a kind of semi Nirvana esque way, but with a Finnish bent. I personally like the feathers from the video.
anywho, grizeat lists, and here's to another fantastic year of music reviewing from herr johansen in 2005.
Well, we shall see, LOL

Cap 'n Liz,
Have you been smoking illicet substances?? lol
A pirate and 3 Father Christmasses, it's what abstract dreams are made of.
Ok.. So Father Christmas 1 obviously has some love for it, whilst Father Christmas 2 seems to be a bit dismayed, and also, maybe slightly sadistic.. Maybe he's really Satan, not Santa.
Father Christmas 3 however, has obviously spent too much time eating magic mushrooms in the Lappish forests. He probably even believes reindeer can fly. He's stuck in the 60's on a bad trip, surrounded by elves.
All hail to The Manics!
Cheers, and YAY, that was suitably bizarre. I like bizarre..
