Oh the goodies I found!

I only ordered a couple of times but I had a positive experience on both occasions. Actually, I have since become even more thrilled and relieved concerning my first purchase on joann.com. Let me explain.
I LOVE gingerbread men. Christmastime I decorate my entire house inside and out with them. This past holiday season I searched the local brick and mortar Joann store as well as other fabric and craft places for gingerbread fleece. Hubby and I had recently learned how to make no-sew blankets and I desperately longed for a gingerbread one. There were some seasonal prints in the local stores but nothing with gingerbread. So I decided to check out joann.com.
I am so glad that I did. Not only did they have a red fleece with adorable gingerbreads, it was on sale! I bought two yards of it and another two of a dark green for the back side. Hubby and I were planning to make a few other blankets for Christmas gifts so I checked out other prints. I found a cute Eeyore fleece for my best friend that I intended to match with a pastel rainbow I bought earlier. Then I located the “perfect” pair of fleece material for my father-in-law. He’s an avid hunter and fisherman. I laughed aloud when I saw a camouflage fleece and a bright hunter orange one. They all went into my virtual cart.
I think I added a couple of gingerbread stickers too. I didn’t know their website also carried scrapbooking supplies. I had to restrain myself. Ten yards of fleece and a few craft embellishments later, I had almost $43 total of merchandise in my cart. I decided I better check out now while I was still under the $50 mark. I was thrilled. They were offering free shipping when you spent $30 or more. Plus, I shopped joann.com through Ebates so I was getting 5% back.
Checking out was easy and I simply used my credit card. I did have to create an account but that was fine since I was impressed thus far with my shopping experience and figured I would be back for more. The site stated 5-10 business days for shipping. My order arrived in roughly eight days, if memory serves. Everything shipped unharmed through the USPS.
I was jubilant over my gingerbread fleece. It was even cuter in person. I absolutely loved it. The other fleeces were perfect too. Hubby and I were excited about no-sew blanket gifts. I was even more thrilled when I woke one Sunday morning to find the gingerbread blanket finished and thrown over my chair. Hubby surprised me by staying up late and making it for me. He even washed it! I immediately plopped my big butt down in my comfy chair and curled under the Christmas covering, humbly grinning in shock and love. The warmth of the blanket mirrored my husband’s enormous heart.
We both were very pleased with how thick and heavy the material was. I no longer recall if that was what they considered blizzard fleece or what but it is nice. They’re sold out of it now do I’m very thankful that I bought it when I did. And the other blankets we made came out almost as wonderfully as the gingerbread. I have to give joann.com a thumb’s up for quality products.

- Can’t return items to Joann Fabrics store
- You pay for return shipping and for shipping of an exchanged item

- Can’t combine promotion codes (i.e. free shipping and 40% off an item)
Generally, I have been very satisfied with my shopping experiences on joann.com. Their prices are the same if not better than the other fabric and craft brick and mortar locations. You just have to know what your merchandise and generally what you typically pay for it. Also the website offers many different items. There are things for scrapbookers, crafters, quilters, and more. They have a free shipping club too that you automatically qualify for after three $35 purchases within a year’s time. I’m not a serious enough sewer/crafter to make a real go at that offer but I try to at least purchase only when they have free shipping promotions.
I haven’t had any need to contact customer service as I haven’t experienced any difficulties while shopping online. Communication has been fine too. An order and shipping confirmation email was received promptly. Also, I could track my packages. All items arrived safely and met or exceeded expectations.
I’ve received many compliments on my gingerbread blanket. I tell them how my darling husband made it for me. Hubby glows in people’s praises of his loving blanket making act. (See why in the beginning of the review I said I was thrilled?) Friends and family have asked where I got that material as well as some of the other fleece. My sister’s mother-in-law was jealous over the gingerbread men material. She had searched high and low for it but never located any in the fabric stores. Unfortunately it was sold out when she went to joann.com to order it. I got mine in October. (Hence, my aforementioned relief in that I was able to attain the precious fleece.)
Give joann.com a try and see what you think. Who knows what goodies you might find?!
