Pros:Cuts cleaning time in half, You only need water, Easy to use
Cons:Can't use on lacquered surfaces, disintegrates quickly
The Bottom Line: The best thing to happen to the cleaning industry in 20 years. My sponge and scrub brush are history.

I think, though I can't remember for sure, that this product is one that I fell victim to buying because of TV advertising. The ads for it make a consumer just want to try it. I normally don't shop this way but I was just too intrigued. I am always looking to make my cleaning job easier.

I have two children under four, a dog and a husband who might as well be another child. The dog comes in and out of the house at least ten times a day and doesn't keep food or water in her bowl. My one year old likes to paint the walls with her meals and my three year old uses the walls as a canvas. I have stuff to clean!

THE PRODUCT

I buy mine from Drugstore.com in the value pack of 8 for $7.59. I have replaced my regular sponge at the sink with the Magic Eraser so I go through them relatively quickly.
They are a very light foam and are about the size of a regular sponge.

HOW TO USE

All you do is wet them with plain old water, squeeze and start wiping and rubbing. For lightly soiled surfaces such as the countertop, you just have to wipe gently. For tougher stains or marks such as crayon on the walls or day old spaghetti sauce you will have to use a little more pressure and rubbing, but nothing like what was required in the days before this little guy came around! You will be amazed at what little effort it takes to clean. Things that would never come up before don't stand a chance with the Magic Eraser!

Although it doesn't scratch anything, you can't use it on lacquered surfaces such as wood furniture because it will remove the finish. This is a bummer for me because I can't clean the caked on food deposited from my toddler and preschooler.

It always disintegrates rather quickly if you are rubbing out tough stains such as scuffed baseboards. It does however work until it is so small you can't even hold it to use it anymore. Don't worry, you will know when it is time to reach for a brand spankin new one!

WHAT HAS IT CLEANED IN MY HOUSE

In my house it has cleaned just about everything.

-The dust and dirt that accumulates on top of the baseboards comes up with one fell swoop.
-I keep one in each bathroom to tackle the toilet, bathtub and sink.
-I keep one in the kitchen sink and use it as my regular sponge. It wipes my counters and spills and scuff marks on my kitchen floor.
-It takes fingerprints off of doorknobs with ease.
-Outdoor toys that have sat all winter collecting dirt sparkle.
-Caked on food flung on the wall and forgotten comes right off.
-The grout in my bathroom which I have bought every cleaning product under the sun in order to try to clean finally looks great!
-My refrigerator is cleaned out in half the time.
-My kid's booster seats.
-The dog bowls.
-The stovetop after cooking and the grease on the walls behind the stove is no match for the Magic Eraser.

WRAPUP

If there is one cleaning item you should have in your house this is it. You can clean most surfaces with ease using only water. It will tackle everyday tasks as well as disasters like permanent marker on the walls. You can toss the sponge in your sink and your scrub brush that never really worked anyway.
