| angie420's Full Review: Jello Cookbook: Special Edition |
Nothing brings a smile to a child’s face like Jello. Nothing makes a cake any better than a little pudding. This book will redefine everything you do with Jello products. With this book, dessert will never be the same again.
The front cover of this book says Jello Fun And Fabulous Recipes. It has a huge dish on the cover that looks like Jello on the bottom and banana pudding on top. WOW!
This is an excellent book if you have two left feet when you walk into the kitchen. Not only are the recipes easy, but there is a chapter in the beginning of the book that defines the simplest of terms you will use like cubing, molds, whipping, flaking, and other tips like making Jello in the microwave. The tips are helpful and easy to refer back to.
The illustrations of desserts are beautiful. They are in vivid color and you could get ideas for new desserts just by looking at these tantalizing photos.
The recipes are incredible. This book has EVERYTHING! Cakes, pies, snacks, ice cream pies, and salad recipes give you an enormous variety of desserts for a very long time. With over 200 recipes, you could make a different dessert every day for over nine months.
These recipes are very simple and involve few ingredients. My favorite example of this would have to be Chocolate Turtle Pie. You only need six things!
1/4 cup caramel or butterscotch-flavored dessert topping
1 baked pie shell, cooled
1 package Jello Chocolate Pudding and Pie Filling
1 3/4 cups milk
1 3/4 thawed Cool Whip
Place caramel topping in small saucepan. Heat over medium heat until topping comes to a boil, stirring constantly. Pour into pie shell. Arrange pecan on topping and chill.
Combine pie filling mix and milk in medium saucepan; blend well. Cook and stir over medium heat until mixture comes to a full boil. Cool 5 minutes, stirring twice. Pour over nuts in pie shell. Cover surface with plastic wrap. Chill about 3 hours. Remove plastic wrap. Top with Cool Whip and nuts if desired.
Other great recipes include different kinds of pudding, trifle, apple pie, cookie desserts, and of course, your fruity Jello molds.
There is even a special section designed for children. This is an excellent book full of child-friendly recipes. Imagine the giggles you will receive when you and your children make pudding pizza!
You’ll enjoy old-fashioned desserts with a completely new flare. For example, make a banana split, substituting ice cream with your favorite brands of pudding. The flavor combinations are endless.
Other ideas I enjoyed were pudding add ins. This is so easy, yet so original, your family will think you’re a genius! Rocky Road pudding - just whip up your chocolate pudding and add mini marshmallows, nuts, and chocolate chips. Chill and serve - it’s that easy!
I have given you just a few ideas in this wonderful book. I could go on forever raving about this cookbook. For new, dessert ideas that are easy, cheap and SO much fun, this book is an absolute treasure.
