The Bottom Line How would you like to die?
One of the things that keeps us human beings going is hope. Hope that we'll live a good, happy, successful life, and that we'll die remembered good, happy, and successful people. But of course, when it comes to the death part... we usually stop thinking. Or we turn around and go back to a thought that we had just previously thought about before. And why is that? Because death is scary. Death is the end of your physical self interacting with others' physical selves. And that's not a very happy thing to think about. So when we think about our lives, we tend to skip over death. Death also involves a very shadowy thing: the potence of an afterlife. We don't know what happens when we die. We can reassure ourselves that we'll either stop existing, or that we will go to heaven (or, if you prefer, hell), and live out the rest of our existence with other dead beings and/or God. So, that just brings us right back around to the last sentence of the former paragraph. Sorry, I like to ramble, and I hate to edit. This write-off is a chance for you to confront death. To write about how you want to die. I mean, if you're going to die, you might as well have a way that you'd like to die. Would you like to be bedridden, surrounded by all of your family in your final moments? Or would you like to be bedridden, without your family, because you'd want to spare them the creepy moment? Would you want to be slashed in half by a light-saber, only to have your carcass disappear soon afterwards? Would you want to collapse in the middle of a perfunctory speech? Would you like to be killed in an act of genocide? Would you want to die saving the life of the girl/boy of your dreams? Would you want to die famous? Die infamous? Would it be of disease, old age, murder? The big question I aim to ask is: How would you like to die? Write the answer to this question however you would like, but please be extensive and detailed; enough for me to give you a "very helpful." You can do this first-person, third-person, even the rare second-person, whatever. Just answer the damn question. The write-off starts now, and you better do it. If you don't, I consider you a coward. You didn't do this write-off because you were too afraid to confront your relatively soon-coming death. So you better do it. I already said that, didn't I? If you are brave and would like to participate in this write-off, just write it and shoot me an email (theupdateghost@yahoo.com) with a link to your review. Thanks.
