AWFUL!!!!! Following is the exact email I sent to the company through their website:
I recently placed an order from your site (without creating an account) for a Garmin Nuvi 360. I was so happy with the price I got that I returned to your site the very next day to order a second unit. After submitting my order information (again, without having created an account) I was notified the order could not be processed because the email address was already on file. I called your toll-free number to place the order via telephone. After declining to buy a more expensive "U.S." model with an extended battery and a vehicle charger, the pushy salesperson informed me that I would be getting an import model with a chinese owner's manual. The salesperson kept repeating that I was getting the import model and repeating that I should ante up the extra $40 for the U.S. model. After standing firm that I wanted the model I saw on the site, he placed my order and again repeated "I have placed your order for the import model and for the fifth time notified you that it is a chinese import." After some thought, I asked "When you say everything is in Chinese, you don't mean that the text on the screen of the unit is Chinese too, do you?" He said it was. YOUR WEBSITE DOES NOT MAKE IT CLEAR THAT THIS MODEL IS IN CHINESE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Why would any American want a Chinese GPS Unit preloaded with maps of the U.S. and Canada?!?!?! Dumbfounded, I asked the salesperson if it said anything about this unit being an import on your site, where I had placed my first order without having spoken to anyone to begin with. He said it was in the terms and conditions but would not specify where, stating only "read through the terms and conditions". First off, the burden should not lie with your customers to pore over your sales policy with a fine-toothed comb to see that they are getting what they paid for. Second, one sentence regarding "Grey Market" items is not sufficient enough to inform people that they could be buying a unit they can't even use because the display IS IN ANOTHER LANGUAGE!!! "Preferred Photo LLC also carries imported/Grey Market products which are not covered by the original manufacturers warranty"......that is supposed to explain why I wouldn't have been able to read the text on my screen?!? What a joke!!! The salesperson told me that MOST of the items you ship are "Grey Market". It sure would have been nice to see something about the unit being an import when I was at the page READING THE SPECS ON THE UNIT!!! "***Note: This is a Grey Market unit and may come with default settings native to the country of export.***" Would it have killed you to put that IN THE DESCRIPTION OF THE ITEM!!! I am so glad the salesman was so insistent on telling me that it was an import. After finding out about the text on the screen, I promptly cancelled BOTH my orders and will NEVER make the mistake of ordering ANYTHING from your site. It's no wonder that the first 9 out of 10 reviews at epinions rate you guys 1 of 5 stars! I didn't order anything (thank God) and I will be submitting my review of you at their site as well. It's just a shame that epinions won't let you rate something ZERO out of five stars! Shady business practices are no way to do business. I can't wait until you guys shrivel up and disappear due to lack of customers! TERRIBLE!
