There are many excellent values in used Mac laptops, but some machines are very overpriced.

If you have a way to back up your data, I would do so and try a clean install of Panther, which is generally more stable than Jaguar, or if you don't have access to it, install Jaguar again to a clean hard disk (You can run Disk Utility from the installed DVD and repartition your drive).

Other than that, I really can't think of anything. Could be hardware or software. Did you upgrade the RAM at the same time as the software? Mac OS X is very picky about RAM, and that is usually the first place to look for problems.

Sorry, thats a bit beyond my abilities, especially without the machine sitting in front of me. If you lived in Los Angeles I could take a look at it and possibly get it back to life, but not over email.
