| bradshawcl's Full Review: Hefty Ultra Flex Garbage Bags |
I had been buying just some Wal-Mart brand garbage bags, but I kept having the problem of the drawstring ties breaking on me when pulling them out of the can. That wasnt fun. So, the next time I shopped, I bought Hefty Ultra Flex Garbage Bags- I got a 38 count box for $6 something, plus I used a coupon. I had tried other Hefty bags and been pleased with them all except for the hefty price included, but hey, if the ties didnt break, I was all about them.
Each bag is 2 ft. x 2 ft. 3 3/8 in. and holds 13 gallons. These bags claim to be 20% Thicker than most other tall kitchen and 30-gallon trash bags, have ultra thick plastic for ultra strength with Interlocking Texture Design, and have puncture protection to dramatically reduce the likelihood of tearing or ripping. These also come in a black garbage bag as well, which holds 30 gallons, and to be honest, I didnt see those available in my area.
The texture of these bags reminds me of tire treads. The bags feel very thick even when taking them out of the box. I have found you really can stuff these bags and not worry about them ripping, even on the sides of the garbage can- I have an oblong garbage can that has a hinge where the lid goes, and when I stuff bags it sometimes rips, but I havent had that trouble with these bags.
If youre like us- you just have a lot of garbage, and taking it out just isnt your idea of fun. With these bags, you can maximize the bags capacity without ripping them. Also, as for the drawstring, well I have not had the breakage trouble that I have with cheap bags, even if I overload it.
Also, if you place any type of food items or paint cups like I do in the garbage, the liquid or food will not seep out of the bag onto the bottom of the garbage can or on the floor.
Im halfway through my box of bags, and I must say I have been really pleased with the performance of them. Also, Hefty now contributes to the Box Tops for Education Program, which our school participates in, so I get to clip another box top as well. The only negative I would have to have to say would be the price- it doesnt take our house long to go through 38 bags, and for $6+ for 38 bags, its quite pricey over time- even with a coupon- which I dont always have.
But overall, these are great garbage bags- I havent had any problems with them and would recommend them.
