The company I work for changed over to Nova Information Systems in Sept 07 to process their credit card transactions. We had previously used a company called Moneris (widely used in Canada). I had read some unfavorable press about Nova before we signed up so upon request the sales rep gave me several references to call (which I did) and he gave the owners quite a sales pitch. The references all checked out. In Oct of 2007, a little over a month of using Nova, a bad credit card was used by a patron to pay for an item at the company. Nova withheld the deposits of the company's funds from the date of the transaction Oct 25 until Oct 31, 2007. I noticed the missing funds when I did the bank reconciliation. Nova NEVER called our company to advise us of this action - when I called to inquire I was told that an unauthorized attempt had been made and that the funds would be released withing a week. After the 3rd week (hey - I was being patient) I called and got the same staff member on the phone. He remembered our discussion as he had logged it on our account and didn't know why the money wasn't released. He offered to get his boss on the phone and I accepted the offer. 'Scott' came on the phone with a serious attitude and a booming voice and, if I understood him correctly, said that the funds were with the Authorities. I am from Canada and his conversation was peppered with terms and government bodies unknown to me. I figured the sales rep who sweet talked the owners into using NOVA could straighten this out. It has been 6 months - we haven't received the money. BEWARE CANADIANS....MONERIS IS WORTH IT!!!! Stay AWAY from NOVA Information Systems
