Terrible lack of communication from Beach Camera

I ordered a supposedly in stock Nikon Teleconverter from Beach Camera on March 5. I soon received an email confirmation stating that the item would ship in the next day or two. I waited patiently as the stated delivery window came and passed. Now, only after I ask them where my purchase is, do they tell me that the item is actually out of stock and that it will not be back in stock for 5 to 10 business days. The pathetic APOLOGY I received from one of their customer representatives was lame and overdue.
They have had my money now for 6 business days. They neglected to do their part and communicate with me immediately that I would have to wait longer for my item. Now I'm supposed to wait until the end of this month or the beginning of next month before I can enjoy something that I could have gotten from another retailer within just days.
Do business with this outfit at your own risk. If you enjoy waiting around for something you've already paid for, then this is the place for you. However, if you expect to be treated well, to receive timely communication when and if problems arise and to have that communication be genuine, this is not the right place for you.
Organizations such as Beach Camera need to remember that people talk. I have numerous friends who are avid photographers. Among the things we talk about are our buying experiences. This experience will be high on my list of things to talk about. Thanks Beach Camera!
