They Take Advantage All Their Existing Customers!!

Pros:Good Coverage with Feature Rich Phones

The Bottom Line: Go with someone else with better customer service since all companies pretty much offer the same technology these days.


I have had a Sprint phone for 2 years and I like it overall except if I was a new customer I certainly wouldn't go with Sprint. The main reason is that they treat their existing customers worse than their new ones. The rate plans are higher for loyal customers than for new ones. Also their customer service has become automated and that is a change for the worst. Except for these two major issues, the service is technically good and will do the job.

Sprints rate plans have been getting more and more expensive these past few years. Each time the company puts out a new set of service plans they get a little more inflexible and expensive for the customer. For example 2 years ago Sprint offered price plans in the 20 to 30 dollar range. Now you have to buy either an inadequet 19.99 plan or shell out at least 35 dollars a month for adequet minutes on their service. There is no more in between good deals with moderate minutes for a moderate price. Furthermore, they now make you sign a one year service agreement in order to do busines with them. They never used to do that.

The absolute worst thing about Sprint is their customer service. They have gone almost exclusively automated and average wait times to get a customer service representative approach 35 minutes during all but the middle of the night. Plan your day around calling them because they obviously don't respect their customers enough to hire more customer service reps. Furthermore they make you touch tone your way through 5 or 6 prompts just to get to an operator. They won't let you bypass any auto option. This is crazy.

Sprint PCS clarity and technology are good. However the other guys have pretty much caught up to them so PCS is not so special anymore.

If you're a new customer my recommendation is to go with someone else who treats their customers better. Sure Sprint may lure you in with cheap rates and discounts but the truth is if you buy a cell phone today you're going to keep it for years to come and therefore be stuck with that company for better or worse. Make sure it's customer service oriented company unlike Sprint PCS.
