Aw, thanks for the autobio - when you're working on movies, people (me included) get real curious what your life is like. Pity about Kung Phooey, though: that was a lovely title. Perhaps the sequel, Kung Pow!, will be more inspired.
cheers,
- Brian

Thanks, Thea,
Madonna as a geisha... I tell ya, fame does weird things to people!
I hope they let you wear an overcoat when you're off-camera. When it's cold out, stars like Ziyi get a heated tent & a full-length down coat to wear between scenes. Otherwise the glamour wears off real quick. : )
Cheers,
Wayne

Thanks, I was wondering when this movie was gonna come out and who was gonna be in it. Finally I know! Because there were all those rumours that Madonna wanted to be the evil one and all.
It sounds like you guys have to suffer the same conditions that I do for shoots, except their are generally less people on the shoots. On Wednesday I have to shoot summer clothes on the roof of a building on Broadway and 9th, and I hope to god it has stopped raining by then.
Really enjoying reading this.
Cheers,
Thea

Arigato, Javelina,
Well, I suppose I'm lucky in the sense that I'm not broke this month. But I'm not proud of being in the film, only that I did my job well under trying circumstances.
You're in for a surprise in Part 2; my view of Memoirs is more negative than yours. This article reflects the shift in awareness that resulted from my stint on the film, after much discussion & reflection.
To use a food analogy, not everything that tastes good is good for you.
Take care,
Wayne

Thanks, Alex,
I hope warning people about show biz won't be my only contribution to society!
See you,

Dear wayne: Leave it to you to give us an insight into the tortures of film making.
I look forward to Pt. 2!

Thanks, John,
This whole film is irony piled on irony, so your story is actually typical of the Memoirs M.O. As Hemingway advised, "Take the money and run."
I expect the dialogue will be dubbed over for the Japanese release, and they'll never be the wiser. Sometimes you just have to laugh.
Arigato,
Waynio

I helped my friend out on the casting search for English speaking Japanese young women for the film years ago when Spielberg was slated to direct. Most ridiculously (considering I'm a white male non-actor) was that I read lines as a Japanese woman with dozens of aspiring stars... Eventually, my friend "discovered" the key roles, but we were all saddened when Spielberg moved on to other things, and that was that.
It's fascinating to read here a bit about the film that actually has been made. I'm looking forward to seeing it, as well.
