| irfloyd's Full Review: Hewlett Packard HP Pavilion 6745C (P1442A#ABA) PC ... |
I bought this computer this year because I was looking for a computer that cost less than $800. This model, and a Compaq Presario, fit the bill, when I was looking around at Best Buy, and I chose the HP. Why? Because the Compaq was $100 more expensive, and had some nicer features, but the extra hard disk space isn't all that necessary (who can fill it all anyway?), and aside from the DVD player, there was nothing really special about the Compaq. Also, on some important factors (eg. memory), the HP was even much better. I am quite satisfied with my decision. I replaced an old Toshiba that crashed all the time. Unfortunately, this HP does have a crashing problem. I leave my computer on most of the time, and restart it every so often, but once every two or three days, windows will freeze up, and that awful blue screen will appear. Sometimes it crashes so thoroughly that the only way to get it to reboot is to flip the switch on the surge-protector. This is pretty annoying, but I'm learning (again) to either use MS Word or save what I am doing pretty often. I recommend this product only because I do not know any computers right now that do not have crashing problems of one sort or another.
I found this computer very easy to setup and use. I only had to plug everything in and, voilla, it worked. For the inexperienced there is an HP tutorial that I imagine is very useful, since I found it obvious and boring.
