All of the George Foreman fixed plate grills are ultimately damaged by over cleaning with even the plastic spatula. The most effective way to clean those grills is to basically "grill a very moist(wet) heavy cotton rag " This process releases the cooked on meat juices so they can be wiped away. This process steams the food remnants basically like caring for a cast iron skillet by boiling a bit of water and wiping out. I think the Chinese manufacturers include those scrapers to sell more grills, because the finish is permanently damaged. Also in closing I think many people over clean grills. Most all commercial grills have a certain amount of patina from use. Just heat the grill thoroughly before use.Use and Enjoy your grill don't over clean it.
