When good Americans are too far away from Cable, DSL, FIOS, BPL or any real high-speed internet they are serviced by a provider of satellite internet. When we first got our service we were very satisfied, the average download speed was 700kbs and was as high as 800-900 at peak... in fact during FAP free hours(3-6am) you could get speeds exceeding 1mbs.
Then Hughesnet found out that that don't need to abide my laws... they discovered they can oversell their satellites(something they freely admit) and the customers can do nothing for they have no alternatives. This sucks, how can this be legal? How come nobody is doing anything about it?
We were slowed down to 50-80kbs download... compared with our dial-up the dial-up was honestly faster... for Hughesnet has far higher latency issues than dial-up. After complaing and complaining they finally did something and we were averaging 100-400kbs... but as time progresses it returns to 100kbs or less... for purchasing the pro plan with advertised download speeds of 1mbs this is not acceptable... the strange thing is that when the download speed is low the upload speed mysteriously is higher... for instance I have seen upload speeds exceed 300kbs when we are only supposed to be getting 120 something in peak hours...
I am waiting for BPl to service us, then we will have no latency, no fap and no hughesnet... I can't wait till they go bankrupt because of their practices.
