The Bottom Line An interesting opportunity to reflect on 2004. Thanks dbcint!
#1: Name one person you met throughout the year that has made a lasting impression on you. Tell us about them. I met inthelilypond on epinions--and she turned out to be a fake. But what a charming, interesting, and intelligent fake! A very strange combination of talent and duplicity---for some unknown motive. Everyone on epinions knows about it by now, right? #2: Was there a TV show you saw for the first time in 2004 perhaps 2004 was its first season that you now absolutely love? I think The Apprentice was new in 2004---interesting character studies that have us hooked. To add to our favorites, West Wing, and ER---and Law and Order--- #3: Tell us about the best movie you saw last year. It doesnt have to be one that was released last year, just as long as you saw it for the first time in 2004. If possible, include a link to your review of it. Big Fish---followed closely by Secondhand Lions. #4: How about the worst movie you saw last year? Is there one that sticks out a mile perhaps you wrote a scathing review on it? Fahrenheit 9/11----followed closely by ,Kill Bill Vol 1. #5: Was there an event that you wish people would just shut up about already? The Michael Jackson trial #6: Was there a worldwide event that left you wondering what the world is coming to? The conviction and incarceration of Martha Stewart. What a travesty! #7: Similarly, was there a worldwide event that made you happy? The defeat of the candidacy of Howard Dean--more satisfying, even, than the defeat of the fake hero, John Kerry. #8: What were the best and worst albums you heard last year? The best I heard was the CD by Ray Charles called Genius Loves Company. Duets with other great talents. The worst---can't say---didn't listen to anything really bad--- #9: Which musician / band disappointed you? VERY disappointed in ALL the rap and hip-hop garbage out there---- #10: Are there any writers who were newbies in 2004 that you highly recommend we read? Have consistently enjoyed stimulating and interesting dialogue with Vicfar---although there's not much we agree about--- #11: What was the most significant event of the year? It could be local, international, or simply personal I was elected President of the 300-unit condo complex where we spend our winters. It's been a very stimulating volunteer job to apply some of my career experience to interesting issues in my retirement! #12: Do you think your life is on the right track for where you want to end up? How did 2004 affect this? Absolutely! Still doing significant work and making a significant contribution (albeit on a volunteer basis)---and my age and my golf scores are converging! AND I have time for reading, writing, movies, music----- #13: Was there anything else significant about 2004 youd like to add? I developed early symptoms of macular degeneration---and it's clear I'm gradually losing my vision. No sympathy please---I can still read, write, play golf, and watch TV, even if it's getting to be a bit more of an effort. For the w/o of dbcint. |
