I had a similar experience with a Dell, or at least I was starting to but I sent it back within 30 days and got a full refund.
I built my own better system for almost the same cost, (see my epinion articles) and am much happier.
The proprietary parts suck. I've heard about the power suppy problem. Weak to start, and hard to upgrade.
If you only use a computer for wordprocessing or surfing, and never plan to open the box, you might be satisfied with the Dell.

Very good review! I've noticed some of the same problems on Dell machines that I have worked on in the past. Dell's catchy ads sell a lot of computers, and for most people they seem to work fine, but not for everyone.
