Pros:Looks great at first
Cons:Eventually you'll be on hand and knee scrubbing the layers of residue off your floor!
The Bottom Line: Don't use it. If you have, remove it now and switch to a non-wax/non-oil cleaner/shiner.
Like many others I first loved the look of Orange Glo on my floors. I did notice that footprints seemed to appear rather quickly and if water was dropped on the floor it left a haze where it dried if I didn't get it totally dried first with a paper towel. But I felt like it was easy to reapply another coat of the stuff to my floors. I think I used it for about six months before I realized what a nightmare it would become.
One day I had just mopped and the kids (of course) ran through while it was still drying. I wiped the footprints with a damp rag. Big mistake. A gigantic smear was left behind. The more I tried to remove it the more the smear grew!
I tried to use another product and that just made the entire wood floors now looked like a hazy oily mess.
I then hit the internet and tried some of the suggestions I found: water and vinegar, water/vinegar/rubbing alcohol, Windex, Quick Shine, Pledge, all to no avail. I really thought I had destroyed the surface of my floors.
Actually, the products above did work somewhat but not well enough. I must have cleaned my floors 10 times on my hands and knees that week and still the haze was there and the floor's surface just looked crappy and uneven, some shinyness and some dullness.
Finally, I grabbed a Dobie Pad (it's a scrubbing pad that's encased in plastic that I've used for years for washing dishes). I used the Quick Shine Cleaner mix (as recommended - 1/2 cup per gallon of water) with the Dobie Pad (gently). After I used the Dobie I wiped with a clean wet rag (as recommended on the Quick Shine bottle). It did not hurt the surface of my floors and removed ALL of the oily residue that was built up from Orange Glo off of my hardwoods.
Thankfully, they look like brand new once again. I have three rooms, about 1,000 square feet of hardwood and I don't ever want to have to go through that nightmare again.
I thought if someone was trying the Windex and still having a problem getting all of the Orange Glo off you might want to try the Dobie Pad. Like the other cleaners though, try it in an inconspicuous area to be sure it won't scratch or hurt your true floor surface while it's removing the Orange Glo.
