The Perception W/O

Feb 17 '05 (Updated Apr 27 '05)

The Bottom Line loves himself to death.

It's time for some real self-assessment. Sure, those "What is the name of your cat?" write-offs can be fun, but in the long run, I don't think we're going to remember any of those things. I sort of enjoy doing those sorts of write-offs, but I never really discover anything about myself when I write them. Honestly, I can't remember a single question from a single one that I've replied to. That doesn't go to put down the name of the ultimately purposeless write-off, as they are quite leisurely. But once more, I am going to try to step things up a level, with my new Perception write-off. I guess that'd be good a name for it.

The Perception W/O will be composed of three questions (and a bonus), which I request that you would respond to in more than two sentences. Here they are:

1. How do you see yourself? As in, when you think of Jon/Jane Doe, what kind of person do you see? Do you find yourself to be a good person? An evil person? Generous? Selfish? You can go even further than these, I'm just giving examples (and bad ones, at that). Please elaborate.

2. What do you believe to be society's perception of yourself? When some prejudiced guy sees you walking down the street, what does he think? What do your schoolmates and co-workers think? Who do your friends and family see? Please elaborate.

3. How do you think you will be remembered years after your death? The public view of Kennedy during his presidency is not the same now as it was back then. When people look back on Jon/Jane Doe, what kind of person will they remember? If you want to go further, also explore how you intend to have yourself remembered. That would be most interesting. Once more, please elaborate.

And here is the optional, trivial, mostly pointless bonus question: If you could have any sort of psychological/mental disorder or disease, what would it be? Brain cancer doesn't count. I don't care if you elaborate, but it might be fun.

You can respond in any format; an essay, a general response, or even a story (which I will not be doing this time).

The W/O starts now, and never ends. If you want to join, just drop a comment or send me an email at theupdateghost@yahoo.com .

I'll be interested to see your responses.
