One Hour Photo (2002) Featuring: Robin Williams Robin Williams plays Sy the Photo Guy, a lonely employee at SavMart who stalks a family and later invades their lives. Not a gory film but has very frightening scenes and scenarios. Best Scene: Robin Williams is dreaming and walks down a SavMart isle and his eyes start gushing blood. 9. Amityville Horror (1979) A family moves into their dream home but later discovers that the house is haunted by the devil. Best Scene: The Father goes crazy and chasses after his children with an ax. They hide in a room while he chops the door down looking for them. 8. Gacy (2003) Featuring: Charlie Weber, Mark Holton, and Adam Baldwin Taken straight of John Wayne Gacy's life. Ventures through everything from raping young boys to burying them in his crawl-space basement. The only thing more scarier about this movie is knowing it all happened in real life. Best Scene: Gacy's famous last words "kiss my a&&" 7. From Hell (2001) Featuring: Johnny Depp and Heather Graham A gut-wrenching film about the serial killer Jack the Ripper. Contains allot of gore and bloodshed. This movie isnt for everyone, viewers with weak stomachs should think twice about viewing. Best Scene: Johnny Depps last dream of Heather Graham before he overdoes on heroine 6. The Sixth Sense (1999) Featuring: Bruce Willis and Haley Joel Osment Directed by: M. Night Shyamalan Shayamalans break thought movie that lead us to Unbreakable, Signs, and The Village. He isnt the king of horror and nor will he ever be but he ranks among the best. Best Scene: The one when you finally realize Bruce Willis is already dead. 5. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974) Based on a true story a couple of teenagers break at an abandoned house and run into the masked chainsaw killer. Not only does he kill them but its what he does with them afterwards that make it a classic. The remake in 2003 wasnt nearly as good, they left out allot of important scenes from the first. Best Scene: When you realize that the barbeque is actually human meat 4. Silence of the Lambs (1991) Featuring: Anthony Hopkins and Jodie Foster Won academy awards for best actor, actress, screen play, director and others. The first of the trilogy series, and also the best. Anthony Hopkins shows viewers what cannibalism is all about. The sequels are also excellent Red Dragon reaches the status of Silence of the Lambs, but Hannibal wasnt as good as the other two. Best Scene/ Quote: "Believe me; you don't want Hannibal Lecter inside your head."--Jack Crawford (Scott Glenn) "A census taker once tried to test me. I ate his liver with some fava beans and a nice chianti."--Hannibal Lecter (Anthony Hopkins); the classic sucking sound Hopkins made after this line was ad-libbed "I do wish we could chat a little longer, but I'm having an old friend for dinner."--Hannibal Lecter 3. Psycho (1960) Featuring: Anthony Perkins Directed by: Alfred Hitchcock Perkins plays Norman Bates who owns the famous Bates Motel, Norman is obsessed with his mother and has a past filled with horror. In good old black and white Psycho has the ability to scare you to death. Its given credit for the first even shower scene in a horror movie. The sequels werent as good; the second part isnt bad but the third and fourth are horrible. 2. The Shining (1980) Featuring: Jack Nickelson Written by: Stephen King A masterpiece can scare anyone at any age. Jack Nickelson's best role he ever took, and no actor nor actress performed better in a horror movie than he did. Living in a hotel to upkeep it for the winter turns Jack into a maniac. The real surprise is the house is crazy itself and the ending with the photograph of Nickelson on the wall with the bottom of the frame reading 4th of July Ball, 1925 left even me puzzled and amazed. Best Scene/ Quote: "Heres Johnny" and Redrum 1. The Exorcist (1973) Featuring: Linda Blair The Devil takes over Blairs body and turns her into a lunatic. Priests perform exorcisms to defeat the devil inside of her. It is creepy, sickening, and sometimes even down right uncalled for. With out a doubt though the best of them all, it scares anyone who watches it. It leaves you thinking about it for days after you watch it. The Exorcist has that great of an impact. Even with todays slasher movies this ranks up with them. It has horror, suspense, Gore, Blood, Demons, Ghosts, and Satin himself. The Sequels are mostly all terrible the second is complete garbage, but the third isnt all that bad but no where near as scary. The Exorcist "The Beginning" just came out in 2004 and I have not yet watched it, but by all the reviews and media it doesnt look to be getting any better. |
