The Bottom Line: You can't go wrong with a Kenmore!

Several months ago, our old dryer began giving us a lot of trouble. When we finally decided we needed a new one, we turned to our old trusty friend, Consumer Reports, for direction. And what brand came most highly recommended? Kenmore, of course!

I just love this dryer ... if it's possible to love an appliance. It's quiet, very efficient and looks sharp, too. Our laundry room is adjacent to our family room, so it's essential that our washer and dryer be as quiet as possible. Our washer ... well, that's another story (or should I say another Epinion!). Let's just say it's not a Kenmore and leave it at that!

The Kenmore dryer though is very quiet. I wouldn't go so far as to say that it's whisper quiet, but it's quiet enough that you can easily hear TV on normal volume or carry on a conversation without being distracted.

One of the features I love the best about this dryer is that the lint trap is located on the top of the machine. This makes it SO EASY to clean! The lint trap on our other dryer was in the door and it took a little maneuvering to get it out. This one though simply pulls out and pushes right back in. Couldn't get any easier!

Best of all though is how well it performs. I know my old dryer was merely limping along the last few months and perhaps I got used to it's mediocre performance. When I first used my new Kenmore dryer, I was astounded! Clothes that were not just dry, but actually warm and toasty after just one cycle? Be still my little laundry-foldin' heart! It's about five months now and I still can't get over it!

Another nice thing about this dryer is that it has an extra large drum. As I said earlier, maybe I was simply used to our old clunker of a dryer, but I am so amazed at how much easier it is to put a full load of laundry into the Kenmore. It's very roomy and I know the clothes are being tossed around in there during the cycle, instead of just revolving around and around in one sopping wet compacted ball. This also contributes to how well it dries and saves money and energy as I don't have to dry loads more than once to get them completely dry.

This Kenmore dryer also has an air dry feature that I really love. It comes in handy for delicate things like a lace tablecloth or anything you aren't sure of, like certain fabric blends. On our old machine (aka "The Beast"), the air dry feature literally meant air. The machine spun the article around with absolutely no heat. Consequently, it could take hours for the item to be dry enough to put away. It would have dried more quickly if I'd driven fast around the block with our shirts and pants and towels hanging out the window!

The air dry feature on the Kenmore seems to supply just a little bit of heat -- a very tiny amount -- but enough to get the item completely dry in a short time. If you are unsure of how heat will affect a certain garment, you can partially dry it and then hang it up to finish drying. I've done that with several items and never had a problem with shrinkage.

One thing I must point out is that we bought our Kenmore dryer at a Sears outlet store. There was nothing wrong with it except a small scratch on one side that was going to end up facing a wall anyway. The only reason I point this out is that the price I list as having purchased this dryer for will probably not be near what it is if you walked into a Sears retail store and bought it.

Overall, I can't say enough good about this machine. I had never bought a Kenmore product before, but after owning this dryer for the past five months, I can definitely say I will be a Kenmore customer for life!
