I want my Time Warner Digital Cable back!
Written: Oct 07 '01
I had Time Warner Digital Cable in my old building and my new building only offers DirecTV. Initially I thought this was a great thing - hundreds of channels, more so than Time Warner Digital Cable. But now I see the problems after a month of usage. Tonight is Sunday night. I usually watch Star Trek on a Sunday night and the new series of Star Trek "Enterprise" has just started. Except, I can't see it. UPN is not carried on DirecTV (despite it being the most requested addition to DirecTV's network). My woes continue. During Fall and Spring the weather in space causes disruptions to the satellites, leaving me with the DirecTV logo for 10 minutes, instead of CNN. And there's the constant "Searching for satellite signal" in the middle of a crucial scene. Then there's the poorly-designed user interface. Time Warner's interface is so simple. While you're searching for a new channel, your current channel sits as a Picture-in-Picture in the upper right corner of the screen. TWC's interface only shows you channels that you have or can purchase, DirecTV shows you every channel, even those you can't access (like all the West Coast channels). And it actually costs slightly more to have the same setup on DirecTV than it does for Time Warner Cable. I want my Time Warner Digital Cable back!
