I have had this unit for about 6 years. I was happy once I go over the installation and it was all said and done. We did enjoy not running out of ho water but there are some huge trade offs. You will immediately notice that you cannot control the amount of hot water like a conventional heater. It's either on or off. The manual has you adjust the temperature so when the hot water is fully on you can stand it. However, this is not hot enough for laundry or dish washer. You can't just trickle hot water at your bathroom sink. Once you turn it off you will get some cold in between. We have experience this many time while showering. The water gets too hot so you turn it down then eventually get some cold and so on. Worse, it recently burned thru the bottom of the exchanger. Contacted Bosch, they said it needs more ventilation. And not a warranty issue. It's open to the rest of the house so I know it's vented well. I'm out of a heater and my local store does not carry it anymore. The unit also requires 5" ducts. If you are replacing a current heater, you will need to replace your ducts as well. You have to re-direct your existing lines since they used to be on top. This heaters inlet and outlet are at the bottom.
