The Bottom Line Bon appétit

INGREDIENTS:
3/4 cup butter, softened
1 cup light brown sugar
3 eggs, beaten
1-1/4 cups self-rising flour
2 Tablespoons unsweetened cocoa
2 Tablespoons milk
2 small pears, cored and sliced
For garnish:
chocolate sauce

PREPARATION:
Grease an 8 inch pan with a removable bottom. Cut a circle of parchment paper and line the bottom of the pan. Preheat oven to 350°F
1. Put the butter and brown the sugar in a mixing bowl and beat until pale and fluffy.

2. Add gradually the beaten eggs to the mixture, beating after each addition.

3. Sift the flour and cocoa into the butter/egg mixture and fold, until well combined.

4. Stir in the milk and pour the batter into the prepared pan. Level the surface of the cake with an offset spatula or knife.

5. Arrange the pear slices in the circle on top of the cake.

6. Bake for one hour or until the cake it just firm.

7. Let the cake cool in the pan for about 10 minutes. Remove and cool on a rack.
