| JimUSM's Full Review: Apple PowerMac G5 Dual (M9749LL/A) Mac Desktop |
In addition to owning a powerbook, I also have a powermac for my really heavy media editing. My setup is a Dual 2.7 with 6GB of RAM. This computer is a media editing powerhouse. It's used by many professionals in the media industry today. My uses include film editing as well as Multi-Track Recording. The computer handles recording 24 Tracks at a time with ease (with plug-ins also in use) and I'm sure could do more, but my recording setup only allows me to do 24 tracks at a time. For film editing, this computer is blazing fast. I can render a 2 hour video to DVD (using iDVD) in about 15 minutes. If your are a serious media specialist, I highly recommend this computer if you are looking for a computer that can do the work you need it to, in a timely manor. This computer is also highly expandable, which is a rare feature in apple computers. You can easily add extra hard drives, RAM, and PCI cards without needing an apple certification to open the case (ever try to upgrade the hard drive on an iMAC?). I really enjoy my powermac, and think you will do if you give it a try!
