Ever cared about biodiversity? Neither did I.

I wish I could say that i understood your comment, but I don't. I will laugh though because I'm sure it is funny. I like your new picture and am wondering when you will write your next review?

Hey wayne,

How's everything in San Fran? Although I would tend to agree that the odds are not too good for us right now, we have to remember that predictions of doom have been rampant almost ever since the beginning of humankind.... and we are still here. So we will see what happens, literally, because scientists are predicting doom in about as close as in 50 years.

Cheers,

Vittorio, you have a point there. I don't know if i mentioned this in the essay, but it actually takes just about a few million years for biodiversity to regain "normality". So.....yeah, we are doomed. Although I would like to, you can't blame it all on the Republicans.

Thanks. I could've done better if I had taken more than a day to write it, but that's procrastination for you.

And damn the man and DAMN those damn mussels! Hope you do find a culinary treat in them.

I thought "strip logging" was what I did with my lil' PDA while watching the girls on stage at the Leopard Club. I had a nice list. Will the EPA make me erase it?

Koyaanisqatsi (Life Out of Balance) (Reply to this comment)

Hi Thea,

That's an eye-opening essay - thanks for sharing it. I think civilization will collapse before the ecosystem does. That is, nature will restore the balance, with or without us - more likely the latter, the way things are going.

But I hope you survive the coming die-off. In the meantime, check out that old Godfrey Reggio movie (title above). We are so doomed!

Namaste,
Waynio

We are doomed... (Reply to this comment)

This stuff is too difficult for most Americans and, if you look at our leaders straight in the face (Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Rice), you KNOW deep in your heart that the human race is doomed. And...it almost feels that it is a positive outcome for the sake of this planet.
Things may slowly return to normal after we are gone.

Zebra mussels native to Germany (Reply to this comment)
by oldcomixfan
migrated into the Mississippi and all of its tributaries after hitching a ride in the bilge water of a German vessel a few years ago. There is no natural predator of those things over here and they have multiplied exponentially as a result. They "glue" themselves onto any hard object in the rivers including native mussels that die of starvation because they can't open up to feed by filtering the water of fish poo and other microscopic snacks like algae etc., and also grow inside the cooling systems of outboard motors left in the water too long - many blown, overheated motors have resulted after being fired up for a first cruise during the first warm days of Spring. No one as of yet has worked up the nerve to experience how they might taste in a nice soup or some other dish with a fancy French name. But give the Cajuns a little more time, they'll eat just about anything. It may be the only solution for now before the ecology is irreparably damaged.

Belated payback from Germany. Ain't it a beyotch?

This has been an ecological update. Please stay tuned for more late breaking news in the world of catfish. Thank you and good day.

A nice, well-written {as opposed to falling down a well and writing something to alleviate the boredom as you wait for Lassie to inform Timmy of what happened} little college paper thingy you wrote, by the way.
