i think I need to disagree on one thing.
Since when is moderation in anything a good thing?
WHy should it pertain to beer? I love beer, lots of it. Moderation is not key to my enjoyment of it.
So if you're in NYC for the meet n greet, you'll get to see me drink some!

Great ideas! *lol* I know if I ever said "pub crawl" to anyone they'd say, "Bar crawl? Awesome!" and take it as an offer to go get wasted...

OK so again do you think drinking over a gallon of beer in the course of a day is something a Type II diabetic would want to do? Because a gallon or more of beer in one day is a giant leap from the "few beers a week" you claim you drink. Are there any health risks involved with a Type II diabetic drinking a gallon or more of beer in one day? Why do you refuse to answer this simple question?
Actually, I haven't answered the question because your entire premise is mean spirited and indicative of your callous nature. But to answer your question, there are not neccesarily health risks involved with a diabetic drinking a gallon of beer over a nine hour period. There could be, but a lot needs to be factored in.
Diabetes does its damage over the long haul. So, if you control it most of the time, the occasional day of cheating is acceptable. Diabetes is not a prison sentence, John, and I can tell you that most people who have the disease probably do not follow their regimen every single day of their life.
You clearly do not understand the disease. You mentioned something about eating chicken wings in a pub, for example. They are protein, no carbs, no sugar, and a diabetic could safely eat them all day without elevating blood sugar (cholesterol concerns notwithstanding).
I'm not the one with the health issues when related to alcohol consumption. You are.
What does that matter? Epinions is about advice to consumers, John. The medical state of the author is not germane to this. So, if as you're suggesting I should include some kind of "health warning" to consumers, then you should too. It's that simple.
Again, if you want to promote "safe drinking"
Safe drinking is not the point of my essay. A successful pub crawl is. Please re-read the title.
But then you're entire purpose here is only an exercise in the ridiculous, and another attempt at schadenfreude.
The sad thing is that you could contribute a lot to Epinions if you chose to, but instead you only exacerbate your pariah status. As long as you continue to behave this way, no one will really take you seriously here. You're already blocked by five advisors, and that number will likely increase.
So I ask you again, as I have before, to end your tirade, forget your obsession with me, and concentrate on writing beer reviews here. Isn't that what you say you're here for anyway?

No it is you who does not care about drinking with diabetes.
Actually, that's not true, since I factor it into my overall lifestyle. But even if it were, would that not be my concern, and really none of your business? And if I should add a warning to my review for people with diabetes, should you not tack the same onto all of your beer reviews? Why have you not done so?

Yeah, it's type II. But really, it's not something worth writing an entire piece about. I enjoy a few beers maybe once or twice a week. I work it into a program of exercise (mostly walking) and trying to watch what I eat.
And that's all there is to it. Beerlover (as usual) just has things all blown out of proportion, and he's just being his usual fruit loop self. He really doesn't care one way or another about diabetes and drinking.

Exactly. So why not a rule six to warn people with health issues this might not be a good thing to do?
[...]
Like you said, these "rules" are just common sense, but if you have health problems, I think you should let people know, you might want to think twice before you risk your health.
This would be an excellent idea for a piece here. Forget just being a Rule Six, how about a "Drinking and Diabetes" kind of thing? I know I recall several instances where brugru has mentioned the diabetes (Type II, was it?) and how it limits his drinking, within beer reviews. This could quite possibly be a good straight-from-the-source helpful advice column type deal.
What say you, Lead?

Oh come on (Reply to this comment)
by davidmanning
Here, let me be annoying for a second.
Tasting glasses rarely exceed five ounces. A lot of the beers, at least in my brewpub sampler trays, are unadulterated crap (although brugru seems to have found few clinkers in Seattle). If we really have to do the math, it's quite possible to drink 31 beers at an average of, oh, let's use four ounces, which gives you a gallon of beer over 8-10 hours.
Not caring about the whole diabetic debate, it's very easy to drink that kind of beer quantity in a day. I've had weeks of doing that every day and still being functional. They're called "vacations." I would bet Beerlover had such a week in Germany recently, even.
I mean, the points in this piece are fairly well-known to anyone who drinks and probably common sense for most other people, too. Heck, they're standard operating procedure for any day of drinking, no matter how many bars you visit.
I think I might have to write up some additions to the list. In fact, maybe this should be a sort of (*shudder*) writeoff, where the beer writers around here can write up their personal pub crawl creeds.
Hmm...

Facts not in evidence??? (Reply to this comment)

BeerLover said: You state you visited four brewpubs in one day? Drank how many beers?
You know, maybe I've gone blind, but I don't see anywhere in this article where he's said anything about how many pubs he personally visited or how many beers he personally drank.
I've been known to completely miss clear statements in reviews before, so if I have please point me to the correct paragraph...
Feeling more blonde than usual...
