I ordered new stabilizer bar links for my 2002 Ford Focus ZX3 from RockAuto.com based on referrals from the experts on the focaljet forums.
First of all, I probably would not order any significantly priced auto parts online unless I was POSITIVE that I new what was wrong with my vehicle and that I knew I was ordering the correct part. In this case I knew for sure that barring a total screw up by RockAuto, that I ordered the right parts thanks again to the helpful recommendations of other people on the internet who had done the exact same repair.
I had procured the part number from the online forums and a simple part number search on Rockauto's web site turned up what I needed. The part was easy to locate on the RockAuto web site simply by doing a part number search, and ordering was a snap and appeared to be secure.
RockAuto's web site is pretty functional (more function than form). You can either browse the Part Catalog by vehicle make, model, year, part category or do a search for the part number. The site design (logo, colors and layout) is pretty amateurish and looks like a web design from the early 90s.
I was able to order MOOG brand parts that are significantly better than the OEM parts I could get from the Ford dealer. The price of the MOOG stabilizer bars at RockAuto was a full $10 less than other online stores carrying the identical part and about $20 less than Ford's OEM parts. There were other options available on RockAuto that were even less than the MOOG brand, but if I am going to take the time to repair my own vehicle, I don't want to have to do it again for a long time!
RockAuto offers both generic and name brand parts, with a wide range of pricing depending on what you are willing to spend. Even the name brand parts were cheaper than most online competitors. Note that some of the products on RockAuto do not have images associated with them. This was the case with the MOOG Sway Bar Link kit I ordered. You may have to order sight unseen, and trust that you are getting what you want. I do not know what returns are like with RockAuto, as I am a first time customer and received the correct part.
Shipping was only $6.73 for rather heavy parts. Shipping was via FedEx and extremely fast! I ordered late Sunday night and was optimistic I would get it by the following weekend. However, the part shipped Monday and arrived Tuesday!
Overall RockAuto.com's prices and ease of use are good. I'll definitely use RockAuto again.
