The Bottom Line A great car buying experience destroyed by a screwball dealer. You still are taking the risk of messing an unknown dealer on the other end...with your expensive new car!

The CarsDirect website is fairly easy and straight forward to use. The car saving feature is very helpful and the site had nearly every model and option I could think of. Remember that CarsDirect is more than just a website, it is an entire service. After 'ordering' the car on the website, you are contacted by a CarsDirect agent who walks you through the remainder of the process and more or less acts as your 'guardian angel' until you take delivery of your vehicle. As you will see below, I have had much contact with the CarsDirect.com specialist and they were always friendly and understanding with my frustrations.
Due to my location in Rochester, NY I was told that Oyster Bay Dodge in Long Island was the closest participating dealer. From the first day, the agreement was that the vehicle be delivered by flatbed with CarsDirect and Oyster Bay Dodge (OBD), surprisingly, to cover the costs to flatbed deliver the truck to my door. On the date of delivery, however, the dealer was unwilling to deliver the vehicle in this method and required intervention from CarsDirect.
The car was delivered (or should I say dumped off) at my house at 4 am.
The factory hard tonneau cover (a deal installed option)which was originally ordered from day one as not ready to be installed on the vehicle or was even ordered by the
dealer until the truck had arrived and was prepped, causing additional delay. Dealer said they 'knew nothing about it' and would also not guarantee the price that was quoted through CarsDirect.com.
Dealer also required run around with registration and insurance paperwork, causing me to send the information several times.
Dealer was not willing to honor the original quoted price for the tonneau until CarsDirect.com intervened.
Dealer quoted three, maybe four weeks tops for delivery. PROMISED. Actual delivery was seven weeks.
In the end, I did receive my vehicle, directly to my doorstep (although with no dealer representative to go over the vehicle). Cars direct was kind enough to also send me a very apologetic letter and food basket after my experience.
