Bang For The Buck
Pros:funny, good cast
Cons:male nudity
The Bottom Line: It's a good movie, but didn't live up to the hype. Plus the whole naked thing is there.
there is some unlikely male nudity. If you've heard anything about the movie, you know it's coming, but still you can't prepare for WHEN it will hit you.
Jason Segal stars alongside Kristen Bell in this comedic take on broken hearts, obsession and rebound relationships. The movie starts very happy-go-lucky, showing you Peter at home watching a entertainment news program, which just so happens to be showcasing his girlfriend, Sara Marshall, a hit TV show actress. He's googly eyed and captivated until she calls him saying that she's on her way home. He assumes she's coming home for a mid-day rendevouz, but she has other plans... that include breaking up with him. He sobs, begs, pleads, etc. She then tells him there's someone else. His avenue for recovery is to go to Hawaii to this place Sara had always said she wanted to go. SURPRISE - she's there when he gets there. The next hour follows him trying to get over his heartache, continually running into her, meeting the new boyfriend, starting to fall for someone new, and a bunch of mishaps along the way.
It's a cute movie with a good number of laughs, but it's not the funniest movie I've ever seen. The nakedness thing is definitely worth cautioning viewers about - especially if your kids are wanting to see it. Certainly NOT a movie for anyone under 18. It has moments where the editing isn't very sequential, and at times can get cumbersome. But that doesn't stop me from recommending it if you are looking to watch something mindless and funny. I would probably recommend it for a rental rather than spending $10 at the theater.
