The Easiest and Best WayMar 18 '05 Write an essay on this topic. The Bottom Line 1) Wash car with Automobile soap. 2)Wax with Nu Finish. 3)Shine with Clay-Bar if desired 4) Rewax car with Nu Finish. I am what you would call a "moderate" car enthusiast. I like my car to look good, and I like to do all the maintenance myself. I wash and vacuum my car about every 2-3 weeks. It is importance to keep your car clean because it is the "left-on" dirt that hastens the aging of your carpet and paint. As far as waxing I wax my car about every 9 mos to one year. I have tried many different products, pre wax cleaners, bug removers, pure carnauba wax, polymer waxes, etc. This is what I have found. Nu Finish is the best product out there for the guy that just wants to keep his car looking good with a reasonable amount of effort. If your car gets too built up with contaminants (ie the finish does not feel smooth anymore) the only way to get is smooth is with a "Clay Bar" (ie Mothers clay bar). As far as your cars paint is concerned those are the only two products worth buying. Here's why: Caurnauba waxes are "Natural" but they do not last nearly as long as "Polymer" waxes. The thing that really matters to me is how long the wax can protect the finish from Bug droppings and other chemical contaminants. Carnauba wax just does not compare. Pre waxes: I have NEVER found any product that can remove more grime than Nu Finish. I have tried McGuires, 3M, Mothers, etc. None of them can remove anything that Nu Finish cant remove. Therefore, Yahoo!, don't waste money on any prewax. Clay bar, no matter how hard you scrub, with Nu Finish, a Pre-Wax Cleaner, or anything, eventually you will end up with contaminants that stick to your paint. These contaminants is that slight sandpaper roughness that you feel after you wax your car. If you want your car perfectly smooth and shiny, Clay bar is the only thing that will do it. The clay bar glides over a film of special liquid (included) and polishes off those microscopic bumps without affecting the surrounding finish. When you try it you will be amazed. A couple caveats, 1)you want your car as clean as possible prior to using clay bar, therefore, I wax my car with Nu Finish prior to using clay bar. 2) you need to wax your car after using clay bar. So, it is a bit of work, but now you know not to waste your time with anything else, and you know Clay Bar will work. There you have it. Nu Finish every 6 mos to one year and Clay Bar when necessary if you really want a "Glass Smooth" finish. Throw everything else in the trash. Oh, one more thing, only use a soap for washing cars, never a dishwashing soap. Can't wait for the flames from the car enthusiasts on this issue. |
