AutoTrader.com, by their lack of concern for their customers, aids in scams and frauds

AUTOTRADER.COM DOES NOT CARE ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS. BEWARE...AutoTrader.com has knowledge of SCAMS and Fraudulent ads but does not warn the consumers. My son was taken for $3,000.00 and for the majority of the negotiations prior to sending the money, AutoTrader.com was aware that the ad we responded to was a fraud. AutoTrader.com put us in touch with the seller, they then pulled the ad for fraud. In its place they had the notification that "this ad was removed at the seller's request". Had they replaced that with "this ad was removed for fraud/scam!" my son never would have sent any money. In addition, they have the e-mail addresses of everyone who responds to ads on their website and they never once notified those who responded. I hold them responsible for this as I feel they aided the seller in taking my son's money. Makes me wonder if they got a cut in the scam. My personal opinion, however I feel they should refund my sons money as that was all his savings. I retained every piece of information, every e-mail and sent them copies of everything I had. THEY informed me AFTER the money had been sent and I called them to find out about the status of the shipment of the vehicle, that THEY removed the ad for fraud. I asked why they did not notify the consumers who responded to the ad or post a warning on their site. Their response was: that is a good idea, we are always looking for new ideas. When I informed them I was holding them responsible for having knowledge and information prior to the transaction taking place and withholding that information and that I wanted them to replace my son's money, they took my information, copies of all of my documents and spoke with their lawyers who, of course, saw fit NOT to pay my son back his money. Their lack of compassion and responsibility for maintaining and upholding their business astounds me and I will continue to fight to hold them responsible. I will make sure everyone I know is aware of their lack of professionalism and responsibility so that this does not happen to any one else. They exercise no duty to their customers and THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS!
