I bought this book for my two daughters based on the title alone. "Guess How Much I Love You" is something I always have asked my girls. They stretch their arms out really wide and say, "And even More." So, this book was compelling to me.
I love the idea of Big Nutbrown Hare and Little Nutbrown Hare discussing how much they love each other. It is sweet to hear parent and child come up with new ways to show how big their love is. My oldest daughter picked up on the phrase from the book, "I love you to the moon and back," and now we say that to each other quite often. I like when a book stays with you long after reading it.
I think the book is great because it teaches children that it is ok to express their feelings. It also gives children new ways to express their love.
The illustrations are quaint and old-fashioned, which I love. My daughters love bunnies so they absolutely love looking at the pictures in this book.
My husband gets annoyed by this book because he thinks it is too repetitive. He says he feels like he says, "Big Nutbrown Hare and Little Nutbrown Hare" over and over and over again until it is like a tongue twister. I agree that the words are in the maybe one time too many but luckily the book ends before it gets to be too annoying for me.
I think the book is just the right length. I like having a lot of books for my children because I tend to get bored reading the same books over and over again. I suppose that I could get annoyed with this book if I had to read it aloud everyday but since we have so many to choose from, I still like it a lot and think it has a great message.
