The Bottom Line Ebay -- The consumers dream? Nope, its the retailers dream. Retail Stores just use ebay as another front to sell the product... at your loss.

If you were a retail store, buying things at wholesale, you want to sell your products. Well sitting in a store shelf, what guarantee is their that the product will be sold? none. But start an auction on ebay at $0.01, and it will get sold. And not only will it get sold, but the buyers outbid each other to spend MORE on the product. If you look on ebay today, most of the vendors are "power sellers," ie. stores that just use ebay for sales. The person-to-person auction interaction was lost long ago.
I was recently searching to buy a digital camera, and of course I checked ebay. I looked and I found a multitude of camera, below the retail price!!! But as I looked further, I discovered that they were all by power sellers. So as I researched stores, I found *LOWER* prices that on ebay for the same item. In fact, some of the stores with the lower prices sell the exact item on ebay, for a *HIGHER* price.
So here is the advice from this... If you are buying something on ebay, dont let the thrill of the auction tempt you, search on the internet, because chances are you can find a better price.
