I really like Amazon!
I live in Australia & recently I wanted to send a particular book to a friend overseas. To buy the book at my local online bookshop here in Perth was going to cost $75 for article plus $20 postage & handling charges, a total of $95 Australian dollars.
I checked Amazon US and even allowing for the dreaded currency exchange rate, I would be able to ship the same book to my pal for $63.82 Australian. I went to Amazon UK and there it would cost me $67.50 Australian to send the aforementioned book to the intended recipient. Although a few dollars more, Amazon UK could deliver the book in a shorter time frame due to faster availability of the item and so I chose this option.
Barnes Noble was not even in the race as not only was the item more expensive but it was also not in stock.
In another instance this year I was able to locate a book for a friend which is now out of print and no longer available in Australia at Amazon US for what I thought was a very good price. Within minutes, the book was ordered and on its way to Sydney.
I have found the Amazon online shopping experience to be very straight forward with no nasty surprises.
I have sent books to Canada previously with an online bookstore there called Chapters. By comparison, this was a buyer's nightmare. Online availability for items was inaccurate meaning that orders, once made, could not be filled on time if at all.
*The remainder of this epinion has mysteriously disappeared. What is appearing here is actually from the initial draft. I will address this as soon as possible. Must be Epinions glitch? Armchair
