I purchased two warranties from Square Trade, for two NEW phones that I bought as Christmas gifts on eBay. Both of the phones worked fine when I received them, but the one for my niece quit reading her SIM card about 6 months into 2008. Motorola declined to honor the warranty, stating that the phone was actually purchased (from them) by the eBay seller several months prior to my purchase date. This seems to be a pattern among cell phone companies so buyer beware!
Regardless of my opinion on Motorola as a company, Square Trade came thru with flying colors! When I called and told them about Motorola's position, their response was "no problem". They sent me a prepaid shipping label via email and we had the phone fixed and back into my niece's hands within one week.
I cannot recommend Square Trade highly enough. If you buy a cellphone on eBay, make sure that you get a warranty thru Square Trade.
